My CX7's fanbelt got dislodged from the drive pulleys this afternoon. I just used the car this morning and I didn't notice anything wrong with the car. Then this afternoon, when the driver started its engine, he said he just heard something from inside the engine bay, when he checked, the fanbelt was hanging out of the pulleys.

Upon closer inspection on the exposed belt, it is fine and did not have any signs of wear.

Is this part of the 3yr/50,000kms warranty? If yes, will the dealer shoulder the cost of transporting the car to their service center?

check the pulley's alignment bro. AFAIK, only misaligned pulleys can cause the belt to dislodge.

It's really a mystery why this happened.

Talked to Mazda Pampanga, they'll be towing the CX7 in a while. But I will be charged the towing fee. They said towing is not part of the warranty.

Less than 20K kms palang ang natakbo ng CX7.

May na ipit daw na pusa between the belt and the pulley. Dami daw balahibo ng pusa sa part na yun. Pero wala naman pusa sa garage and hindi naman amoy patay na pusa yung engine bay.

Re: insurance coverage of towing, di ba in case of accident lang ang free towing service ng insurance? In this case, mechanical failure ang nangyari, pwede ko din kaya i-claim sa insurance?

pwede yun iclaim sir.....yung free towing ng insurance of one of our clubmates was utilized when his truck's EGR failed and because of it the truck won't start....if within metro manila free sya...pag outside manila may charge, sa tagaytay nasiraan yung ka club ko so he paid 1.5k...HTH

Ouch... had that happen to me... had to wash dead kitten out of the engine bay with a hose.

Maybe just the cat-tail got caught?

They obviously have to say something to explain why they shouldn't warranty it... wala naman other damage?

Already got back the car. I was charged P700.00 labor for fixing the drive belt. Another P2500.00 for towing. No damages were found with the pulleys nor the belt.

Sayang naman ang towing. Should've just let "manong" fix it by the side of the road for a hundred bucks.

I was afraid that something might be wrong or damaged for the belt to come off. If I've know it was caused by a cat, I would have just let my suking talyer fix it.
