November 4th, 2009 03:22 PM #1Hi Sir(s)!
Im just new here. I just want your opinion based on your experiences in driving Mazda 3 R 2.0 and Ford Focus hatchback.
There are lots of threads here that might answer my question but i want the latest one.
Im still deciding whether what car should i buy, mazda 3 R 2.0 (not a hatchback) or the Ford Focus hatchback.
Im just going to buy a 2nd hand car with a max budget of 550K. My criteria for choosing the two of these cars because of their looks, performance and fuel efficiency although im more into looks and performance.
Actually dream car ko etong Mazda 3 at gusto ko talaga eto. Love at first sight kumbaga..hehehe. Pero when i checked the Ford Focus Hatchback..ganda rin..Parehas silang sporty look..
Nakapagbasa na ako ng mga reviews but i want your opinion guys. Para makatulong sa desisyon ko. The model i want is 2005 above pero mostly nasa 2005 pasok yung budget ko..
Mas lamang kasi sa akin ngayon yung mazda 3 2.0 R 2005 model (pero kung may maissuggest kayo na higher model na pasok sa budget, plz kindly give me that information.
Im going to buy next year 2010, in march. Cgurado po eto. Todo ipon nga ako. Im not planning to buy new one kasi nga yun lang budget na kayo ko. Unang beses ko eto mag ka auto kung sakali and to tell you the truth, di pa ko marunong mag-drive.. but im going to start attending in drving school this coming January and syempre papaturo ako sa parents ko.. Planado na po kasi. Im really excited so sana help me guys..
Thanks,

November 4th, 2009 03:52 PM #3Mas masarap kung nakuha mo ang love at first sight mo. . So yun Mazda 3 ang kunin mo.
Magtest drive ka though, caveat lng ng Mazda 3, masyado syang mababa, so pag puno ang car, sure ball, sayad galore.

My opinion:
Exterior Looks: Tie(depends on your taste)
Interior Looks: Mazda 3
Performance : Tie
Fuel Efficiency: Tie
Both Mazda 3 and Ford Focus share common C platform designed by Ford(focused on handling) and Mazda(focused on Body rigidity) and Volvo(safety)
So i think Mazda 3 has edge only in interiors.

November 4th, 2009 04:10 PM #5Ganun ba? Sumasayad ba yung mazda 3 mo sir nung loaded yung auto mo?
Para sa akin lang kasi, since medyo bago naman yung model akala ko yung mga ganung situation na hahandle na ng mga model ng mazda or any other cars..

I assume you are looking at both gasoline versions of both cars.
If you will consider the Ford Focus 2.0 diesel-turbo, I would suggest getting the Focus diesel because it is a good package if you can afford it.
It's fuel consumption is very low but the performance is very good. Interior is pretty much the same as the gasoline version.
BTW, the diesel Focus came out initially as M/T but in 2009 was changed to A/T dual clutch system.

Thanks for the feedback sir.. +1 na yung mazda 3 ..
By the way nga pala, ang biyahe ko kung ano man ang magiging resulta na bibilhin kong auto is from calamba, laguna to makati.
Uwian kasi ako and i work in makati.

When I read some other forums, they tell malakas kumain ng fuel yung mazda 3 while the focus has a slight edge on that..
But others tell, depende yun kung paano ka daw magdrive ng auto mo..kapag mabigat ang paa mo, talgang mabilis maubos gas ng auto mo..
Hindi naman cguro ako ganun.. hehehe

The Ford Focus turbo diesel is frugal on the fuel but that is just the bonus. The main advantage of this is the performance and the potential of upgrades in power by some easy steps (like water/alcohol injection and piggyback ECU tuning).
Would driving a manual versus automatic matter with you?
