Mazda’s Skyactive X technology looks promising: diesel-like torque and fuel economy combined with gasoline silence, smoothness and high rev capacity, the best of both worlds. Just bought a diesel CRV S mid-2018. Fuel efficiency is outstanding but the noise of the engine is off putting. Mazda’s Skyactive X could put diesel engines out to pasture if they get it right. Hopefully they iron out the kinks in the Mazda 3 just in time to use it in an all new CX5.

The current gen cx-5 is all-new model, but shares engine with the previous gen.

Other markets have already released a refreshed version with a the 2.5 Turbo engine and updated G-vectoring Control feature.

So it's not Zoom Zoom anymore. It's "Feel Alive" [emoji13]

Reviewer (same guy from Kelley Blue Book) said that the 2.5L turbocharged engine is powerful but not really essential for a compact suv. Pricetag doesn't justify the "want" for it.

I hope the next gen CX5 addresses the biggest problem of the current model: lack of rear passenger space and cargo room. That and succesfully launching the Skyactive X engine would make this the perfect small cross over. Oh, and remove Start Stop feature, it doesn’t work in PH traffic.

They did that, sir....they just called it another name, the cx9. US variants did not get the iStop as their traffic has few of that.
    The X will need Euro6.

CX9 is a 3-row and competes in a different category. CRV, Forester and Tiguan all have similar footprint with CX5 but offer much roomier interiors and better cargo capacity.

As for Skyactive X, the jury is still out on that —- it could be a leapfrog technology for internal combustion engines or a huge flop for Mazda. Durability and reliability has yet to be tested. Rooting for them though...

The CX-8 can fill up that lack of rear passanger space. Hopefully Mazda PH will bring it over here.

Kung yun lang ang con I'll gladly replace mine with a battery that won't activate the istop. Still figuring out how to disable it permanently.

Flip the hood switch, sir. iStop won't activate if it the hood sensor doesn't sense it being latched.
The pics show the switch where the harness ends.
