I seriously doubt the "cheaper price" scenario will happen.

    CX-5 2.5 AWD Sport – P 1,993,014 (+ P 143,014)
    CX-5 2.2 AWD Sport D – P 2,380,514 (+ P 180,514)

However, by reducing the CX-5’s tariffs to zero percent thanks to AFTA, the 2018 pricing will actually come out cheaper than even the 2017 pricing assuming everything else remains constant and that Bermaz Auto Philippines passes all of its savings directly to the customers:
    CX-5 Pro 2WD – P 1,343,967 (- P 206,033)
    CX-5 2.5 AWD Sport – P 1,586,519 (- P 263,481)
    CX-5 2.2 AWD Sport D – P 1,896,607 (- P 303,393)

The most likely scenario though is that Bermaz Auto Philippines will simply keep the current pricing of the CX-5 well into the implementation of the new vehicle excise tax. It will most likely gain additional features across all variants at no additional cost. Cheaper or better loaded for the same price—it’s looking to be a win-win situation for both Mazda and potential CX-5 customers as 2018 rolls in.

so we should wait nxt year is more cheaper?
Kung less 300k yung price ng diesel baka yun na lang ang binili namin.

    Thanks.

Nadaan lang ako sa forum na to. Before it was XV vs CRV. Now CX5 was added to the mix. Looking at base model only.

XV - my current top choice. Pros: lots of toys. Cons: lower ride height
CRV Gas - made a reservation already. Pros: big space, can fit my roadbike inside. Cons: unicorn and less features compared to XV
CX5 PRO - thinking... Pros: big space. Cons: less features compared to XV. not DRL

Sana option to upgrade headlight to one with DRL before irelease man lang.

How long do you intend to keep your car, sir? There is 1 other factor you need to consider. The tranny.
CVTs are great for fuel economy. They provide you with infinite gear ratios. & Yes, they might have gotten better but.....
here are what the sales guys won't tell you:
    -They have lower power threshold.
-They need periodic special CVT fluid changes
-They are not as durable as traditional automatics.
-When they go, you won't likely be hunting for repair kits but entire tranny assembles. If you've seen the internal damage on blown CVTs, you won't think hard & twice. It won't be a matter of IF but WHEN.
If you swap cars upon warranty expiry, you need not worry about the disposable rubber band tranny many are forcing upon us.....
But....if you keep yours long term, prepare. The cost of maintenance & inevitable replacement will outweigh the fuel savings. Worse, I've seen some who stubbornly kept em too long to see repair estimates go beyond market value.
Me? I'd rather not burden myself & the next owner. I know my conscience won't forgive me for passing on a known ticking time bomb. Besides, the way it drives has never grown on me.[emoji4]

My diet is pretty much low-carb, but I've nothing against rice....nor do I badge-discriminate, sir.[emoji4]
Some flaws & quirks we can have control over......some we can't & that said tranny is among latter.[emoji852]

Thanks for the info travajante. Somebody from the Honda BRV thread will be interested with what you mentioned here. I'm also considering Honda CRV gas variant. But I read somewhere that yes, CVT is more seamless as far as performance is concerned. But it's more expensive to maintain in the long run. In fact my company car is a BRV with a CVT transmission on it. I'm sold with CVT until I read that it's quite expensive to maintain, or replace if the need arises.

Just want to ask batteries that Mazda CX5 uses. On my previous car the Honda CRV (3rd gen), when I ran out of battery, I just call Motolite, and wherever I am, they go there and install the battery on my car.

The sales agent told me that for CX5, if you need to change battery, it has to be done on the dealer's service center. Just want to ask previous owners how do you guys handle this? If you ran out of battery let's say in a mall, what do you do?

I sold my first car after three years. I just settled the remaining balance of my second car in order to sell it. This time, i plan at least to keep it for 5 years.

As far as tranny issues, I consider myself a seasoned veteran as my former car was a 2010 Fiesta S and my current car is 2014 Ecosport Ti.

Thanks for the headsup on cvt. Actually, my original plan is for a crv dsl v. But didn't like how the rear seats fold. If only i can take out the third row, i think i will be able to bear the lack of features.

5years isn't very long. You should be fine w/ just about any car you'll decide on. CVTs are ok new, but when they start bugging.....it'll be painful.[emoji17]
All those buying used should be made aware.

I also have the same feelings about the CRV. The 1.6 engine I think is much more suited for Honda HRV. Although I did a test drive, and I think it's responsive enough. And yes, I personally think 7 seats is too much for the diesel.

I'm just curious, what sort off tranny issues did you encounter with your Fiesta and Ecosport?

The XV actually has the higher ride height between the three choices above. ;-)

But definitely not as much space though.

For your road bike, I would suggest using a hitch rack or make use of the roof rails, just because it would be a shame to dirty the nice interiors of the three above (particularly the XV's and the CX-5's).

We have to remind ourselves that, like Direct Injection (with its potential Carbon build up issues), CVT was not pushed by today's manufacturers due to its increased reliability or better drivability. Environmental concerns, regulations on emissions and fuel economy dictated them. Ownership convenience & cost? They are no longer primary motivators.[emoji17]

But look at this small player, Mazda....they refuse to give in.[emoji106]

I bought the 3Dmaxpider Kagu from Amazon. Perfect fit. $40 by sea. I ordered 2 months prior to my order of CX-5 kaya medjo delayed lang ang dating. There are also 3Dmaxpider sa Blade but universal fit. I also bought one kasi delayed nga ang dating ng shipment ko. Dapat unahin muna ang matting because maulan. Most carpets bumabaho kasi kapag nababasa.
