Can't imagine why you'd want a Mazda 3 1.6 Maxx. Either get the 1.5 or look elsewhere.

Pros:
1. Cheap price. However, if you want an affordable compact, there are lots of options, cheapest would be the Nissan Sylphy 1.6 CVT (my officemate got his for 850k only).

2. Free maintenance - think of it as a 20-30k discount, since that's what it'll cost to maintain a Sylphy or Altis for 3 years.

Cons:
1. Old engine and transmission (only gets 7-8 km/L, not powerful enough compared to its contemporaries).

2. Lacking in features. Only has steel rims (seriously?!), no fog lamps, etc

3. Poor resale value (common trait of all Mazdas)

How much is your SA giving you the Mz3 Maxx?

no. but i'm contemplating on it. problem was agent can't differentiate the maxx and skyactive and wasn't able to give me a discount. the quote says 899k plus freebies. but as i read along, i saw your post, you said it's an old engine and 4AT. the display unit i saw has a hubcap on it pa. hindi daw talaga naka mags ang maxx, plus 20k if you want the skyactive mags. i'm also considering the sylphy. good that you posted it, i think ok na sa 850k for cvt. nagmahal na kasi yun altis AT so im thinking of alternatives.

Not true. Got a 100k discount on cx-5 with yojin 3 and cx-5 was sold out back then and the next iteration came more than six months later. Depende na lang yan diskarte pero i remember the discount discussion started out small lang until it became 100k.

The keyword is "reluctant", I didn't say they won't. If you got discounts then kudos to your ninja bargaining skills. Maybe they are pushing for slow moving and unpopular stocks. But not for popular models like the SkyActiv Mz3 where demand is outstripping supply.

Hello! First-time car buyer on a budget, and I'm really considering this car. SA is giving me real huge discount that makes its price comparable to a mid-tier sub compact. Should I get this one over say, an entry level MT Altis?

may nag post dati sa mz3 thread that an SA offered him 45k cash discount on Maxx, bringing its price down to 854k
add mo pa yung savings sa Yojin3 and it will be like getting the car for ~ 825k. not bad in my opinion, undercuts the price of some mid trim subcompacts from other makers

of course, different story if you have more money to shell out. get the 1.5 sky if you have the budget
