M3 running for almost two years already with a defective iStop, the flashing amber light is just annoying, and if I don't trickle charged the battery at least once a week I have no way of knowing when it is going to conked out.
Hello sir, I hope you don't me asking these.

    1. What was the cause of the iStop capacitor failure?

    2. Did you use an ordinary battery and not efb in the past?

I think if the capacitor is at fault, the e-loop indicator will flash.. not i-stop..

Did you try the i-stop reset procedure?

There is a sequence when removing the battery...you need to disconnect the battery sensor at the + terminal..

M3 is almost 8 years old, bound to happen according to my trusted Mazda mechanic, 5 years lifespan apparently.

Used EFB, bought every replacement direct from casa except the current one.

Yes, reset it multiple times. Diagnostic software used by casa and my trusted mechanic points to the same i.e., failed capacitor.

    Thanks sir for sharing these.

I remember there were recalls with the eloop capacitor fitted with 2014 BM models. The earlier design of this capacitor might not be that durable.

According Mazda PH the TSB is not applicable which I know is BS, unless several were affected, I guess not everyone is unlucky as I am.

Maybe faulty capacitor issue...but again i think as in the video on resettng the capacitor, the e-loop indicator is the one lit.. not i-stop.. maybe its sensing some issue on the battery.. for i stop to trigger, the battery, ac, and engine should reach the set parameters.. temp, voltage..

I noticed if you pop the hood open then start the engine, close the hood, i-stop will not trigger (no light) or if you charge the battery to full. It will trigger again (green light) if you turn off the engine and start again.

If you turn i-stop off (orange light) it still blinks? It blinks orange? Or green?

It always blink amber no matter what I do, from the moment I start the engine, haven't seen green in a very long time.

Had the front suspension checked as it was rattling. Caliper bolts were a bit worn probably because the grease had dried out already. Parts are on order and they just shimmed it with some teflon tape and more grease for a temporary fix.

Engine mount is also due for replacement. It's not totally collapsed yet but it's getting there.

Mhonworks pa rin. Inagahan ko lang baka mahaba na pila sa hapon. May mga long-term jobs kasi sya so limited ang slots. Best to set an appointment for heavier jobs.

    Nice, thanks for the tip!

Drop by ako minsan sa shop nya para pa check yung left CV ball joint at axle boot leak na nakita ko sa previous PMS sa casa.

Iniisip ko baka doon na lang din ako magpa change oil para malapit lang sa residence ko.

If wala sa struts, Try mo sir yun engine support under the car battery, Try to replace it if it's already worn out based on my observation it carries most of the weight of the engine esp on that side kaya mabilis siya bumigay. Replaced mine and never heard the funny irritating noise pag nalubak yun car

the noise is irritating especially when going over smooth humps or consecutive pot holes.. first, i suspect the strut bearings were shot so i bought 2 pcs brandnew!

so i decided to inspect the strut last weekend. per my assessment, its more of a design flaw.. the strut bearings were fine, i pry it open to clean and re grease.. the problem is that the strut bearings cannot locate the springs properly in the center resulting to minute side to side movement of the spring..

upon inspection, i can clearly see the movement marks on top of the spring against the strut bearing. btw, the strut bearing body is made out of polymer plastic.

bottomline, the "spring protector" does not protect the spring from making contact with the strut bearing, but its function is to more to maintain the spring in the center and avoid that side to side movement.

mazda should also redesign the strut bearing to properly locate the spring in the center!

a good rubber hose cut in the middle wrapped around the spring to fill in the gap solved the problem
