Almost everybody likes the new Lancer EX...
Looks like its time for Mazda to fight back...

The new Mazda3 will showcase the new styling direction that will eventually spread to the entire Mazda lineup, Laurens van den Acker, Mazda's design chief, said recently.

According to Leftlane news, it should hit the showrooms Summer of 2009 (US?)

yes malamang ito na yung lalabas na 2010 mazda3. very close resemblance sa current mazda6 lalo na yung fender flares tsaka headlight assembly.

The red car and the blue car in the photos above appear to be chops(photoshop edited images made up of bits from other Mazda models like the current mazda 3, the new Mazda 2 and the CX-7.)

The rear window looks similar... looks like they extended the trailing edge of the door, but it might be a trick of perspective.

May diesel variant ata and they said the new Mazda 3 will be much lighter naman. What is important is the Engine Speeds from 4 Speed AT to 5 speed AT. Ewan ko lang kung may 6 speed MT baka i offer lang nila sa Mazdaspeed3 yon.

If Mazda can cut 100kgs of curb weight it can ease out on its FC.

Design wise looks like Mazda will beat the existing c-market leaders. Interior will be roomier too. I saw an ad today in inquirer 70k dp nalang offer nila sa current 3 models hahaha looks like this is the cue we've been waiting for. expect the new 3 to come out mid 2009 or worse case scenario is end of 2009.

i believe Mazdaspeed 3 is 4WD, also the Mazdaspeed 6. actually 3 na sila competing in the rally segment that are "commercially available". Audi is going back to its rally game with its S3.

mazda isn't known for great awd performance at mas kilala lang for front wheels right? hmm.. edi kahit gawing awd system nila, tataob pa rin yan sa awd systems ng suba at mitsu. pati na rin audi (dahil sa pagkakaalam ko astig din awd nun).
handling naman naging prob ng mazdaspeed3 ayun sa iba kong napanuod.
anway, audi babalik sa rally? never heard of them na sumali na sila sa mga previous rally so parang nakaka excite naman yang balitang yan

OT: ngayon parang nakikita ko na bakit nagtaas bentahan ng lancer (the other way around). i think parang to catch up with suba's prices on their base models same goes with mazda's prices

ser Burai (hehe in Bikol it doesn' sound goods its the girls....). anyway i think u have missed to read about MazdaSpeed3 spanking the asses of the other turbo-charged 4wd cars - namely WRX and Mitsu's RalliArt.....

those two comparos above have beaten both the older WRX (Sedan body) and the 2007 Hatchback style WRX. how's that for a FWD car handling eh? anyway, another info. is Mazda had been building Rally AWD cars till the early 90's...that's based on the Mazda 323... so when it comes to Handling, Chassis Dynamics.... Mazda is pretty much at the top.

I agree with ParakitoJDM, the Mazdaspeed3 is superb and adding AWD will only blow the competition from the water.

I also saw those reviews mentioned from Fifth Gear and the speed did better than either the GTA or the WRX (both of which are all hype and fluff) Speed3 has the substance.

According to a Mazda insider, it wont be a 2010 Mazda 3 anymore instead a 2011 model.

Maybe Mazda Phils product planners think that it won't sell well here if they introduced it with the same powerplants, the 1.6L and 2.0L with no improvement in engine power as well as fuel efficiency.

New SKY engines and transmissions developed by Mazda are expected to roll in mass production numbers beginning 2011. And maybe one of the mazda models to use these more powerful and fuel efficient engines(maybe comparable to Honda's and Toyota's) is the 2011 Mazda 3.

The 2nd gen, Mazda 3 has a chance to level the playing field in compact car segment if fitted with these SKY Engines and Transmission. And hopefully they could bring in manual variants also like what they did for Mazda 2 sedan.
