Take the Andaya Hiway for a shorter route. If you want a scenic route, take the road going to Daet, but it is much longer.
day trip take daet route pero kung night trip mag andaya ka. kakatakot sa daet route pag gabi.
2 years ago, hindi pa maayos yung "quirino highway".
1 year ago, hindi pa rin maayos yung quirino highway. there were unpaved parts, and in the paved parts, there were lots of parts where the concrete just caved in... making potholes that even me, in the ranger, had to avoid.
anybody gone to bicol recently?
Andaya cuts the trip to Bicol by 1.5 hours.
Although sa may bandang tagkawayan quezon, may malalim na lubak due to road improvement. That was last year pa. Ewan ko lang ngayon kung ok na.
And since Andaya Highway has just been constructed recently (I think late 90s), ala pa gaanong settlers dito so mahirap dumaan dito sa gabi dahil mahirapan kang maghanap ng tutulong sa 'yo pag nasiraan ka.
yes andaya highway or "quirino highway" is shorter by approx. 70+ kms. or 1.5 hours driving time compared to the daet route.
but repairs on quirino highway IS NEVER completed. throughout the stretch of the highway, there are "re-blocking" works. meaning the old pavement is demolished and re-constructed. and these works are ongoing all-year round. by the time they finished one portion of the road, the other portion deteriorates and is again "re-blocked".
this "re-blocking" works is very dangerous esp at night, there are one-way lanes that are around a blind curve. and almost all the big heavy trucks and trailers travel during the night. which is good for the engine and tires.
try the daet route, the roads are well paved. concrete roads with asphalt over-lay. kaya very smooth ang driving. kaya lang ang daming zigzag curves. baka mahapo at ma-stress ka sa pag drive. and very fews trucks use this road. you also got to see the so-called "bitukang-manok" near the camarines norte & camarines sur boundary.
but do travel during the day. dont ever travel at night. camarines norte is known for NPA haven. i should know. i was born there.
