Ang daming road repairs ngayon along the highway, lalo na sa Binalonan and Pozzorubio in Pangasinan. It took me 6 hours to reach Quezon City last night from Baguio City. Useless din ang Magilas trail dahil yung entry point nya ay stop and go traffic.

First time driving to Baguio last Saturday via SCTEX - TPLEX - Gerona - Kennon. Went back the same way albeit via MacArthur.
Mas okay ata mag Kennon pabalik, ang dilim pala sa MacArthur pag gabi. Masubukan nga un ibang daan pag napagtripan ule umakyat.

Eto yung toll na binayad ko. Went up to Baguio last week via NLAX-SCTEX-TPLEX-Kennon. Pauwi just reverse it.

Matindi ang mga one way sa banda pangasinan dahil sa road construction so if you can I suggest you leave during the day kasi sa gabi aside from low visibility, kasabay mo pa mga truck na mabagal kaya mahirap mag overtake.

Took me 4.5hrs paakyat, left QC around lunch time. Pabalik almost 6hrs, left Baguio 5pm.

Derechohin mo lang yung SCTEX sir, wagka mag exit dugtong kasi nun ang TPLEX. We went there parang Panaqui yung current final exit. Tapos yung Mc-Arthur Hiway all the way. First time ko rin mag drive kaya nag Marcos ako bawas kaba, pero nung kababa na kami at nag Kennon, dun ko na realize na kaya ko naman pala paakyan ang Kennon basta walang traffic pero ayaw ko din masyado ma pwersa yung makina.

Balak ko talaga TPLEX hanggang Paniqui. Balak ko talaga Kennon din. Ang reservation ko lang sa Kennon ay baka madaming repair works. Last May pa aksi ako huling napadaan dun. Mabilis naman byahe naminsa Kennon.

Alis kami Laguna ng 2AM so ang estimate ko nasa Tarlac kami early morning.

And yes Paniqui ang last stop so far ng TPLEX. Mahirap lang pabalik kelangan matandaan mo yung kanto paliko ng TPLEX wala pa masyado signages. So nung alam ko na nasa Paniqui na ako alert na ako to look for that sign. Plywood lang na may pintura.

Brought a 4x4 AT pickup. Nagfull tank ako in QC bago umakyat. 595km traveled kasama ikot sa Baguio pero actually distance from QC to Baguio is just around 250km. Di ako nag gas up sa Baguio kasi I still have enough diesel pa naman. Sakto lang pagdating ko sa QC tsaka umilaw ang warning sa fuel gauge. Remember though that the truck Im driving has an 80liter tank capacity.

Almost 80 liters sa 595 km! Wow gastos pala sa diesel ang 3.2 engine! But how was the wildtrak sa baguio? How about going down, maganda ba ang engine braking qualities nya or did you have to step on the brakes often when on 4th gear and up? I assume you put the a/t in manual mode going down.

Sir exact liters of diesel used was 67liters on a 595km trip giving me fuel efficiency of 8.9km/l on an AT 4x4. Di sya sir Ford Ranger. I brought a Nissan Navara.

Went up also to Mt. Sto. Tomas and sometimes had to use 4low. Traffic in baguio is sometimes worse in Manila also.

I try to limit the use of breaks when going down so I just put it in 2 or 1 gear on an AT.

Check mo rin sir 1896 bed and breakfast near sikad road. Its a house converted to a b&b and has safe parking where you can leave your car.

If you want to drive some more, actually some friends told me that even a sedan can go up all the way to rangers station since roads are better now.

And since you are driving alone, i suggest if time permits stay one more night in baguio and leave in the morning since you will be coming from a major climb. Baka makatulog ka while driving pauwi. Kung di naman kaya, damihan mo na lang stop over pababa and doble ingat kasi galing sa pagod na trek tapos drive na agad pagbalik baguio.

Paragos, maraming salamat sa suggestions. Pwede mo i-PM 'yung numbers? Siya nga pala, ang meeting place namin ni Manong jeepney driver ay sa Victory Liner Terminal. Kung di ako nagkakamali, malapit sa Session Road/Utility Drive 'yun.

Kennon Road? Para kasing base sa nabasa ko sa thread, mas relaxing mag-drive sa Marcos Highway? Mahigit isang taon pa lang ako nagda-drive at medyo nahawaan na ng angas ng mga drivers sa EDSA. Pero generally, mabait pa rin ako. >:->

Remzam, maraming salamat din sa suggestion. Iko-consider ko ang extra night sa Baguio since naka-leave naman ako sa Lunes, at 'yung accommodation na nabanggit mo.

About Ranger Station, I drive a 4x2 ASX, so I have my doubts about going straight. Baka di kaya. At nakakaawa yata ang suspension kung ide-derecho ko. >:->

may nakasabay kami last year na silverado, di kinaya, kaya alanganin talaga asx nyo, ayon kasi sa mga kasamahan ko na nag-pulag din last sunday lang, ganun pa rin daw kundisyon ng daan.

I'm in Baguio now. Will climb Mt. Pulag tomorrow. I encountered several road widening projects, I think most of them are in Villasis.

One thing I noticed was nobody was taking the extra new lane, perhaps because they were expecting it to end abruptly with a road construction sign.

Will share some dash cam videos when I get back.

Marcos Highway was very good, it reminded me a lot of the road going to Rizal.

Ang nakita ko sa map ay via Pangasinan kaso mas malayo. Worth it kaya yung added distance?
