    thanks nugundam.

To make matter worst, Honda 4-lugs cannot achieve that OFFSET. Kaya ang new generation Civic owners, masaya dahil 5-lugs na sila.

dx8976, ROTAs are safe. We have a thread regarding Rota's reliability and quality, ISO certified and most automobile manufacturer uses Rota for OEM wheels.

On ROTAs and strength. They're just about as strong as most stock rims (heck, a lot of stock rims are ROTA). The "bengkong" issue comes out because of people driving cars with larger rims and thin tires the same way they drive cars on big, soft, pillowy, bump-absorbing tires.

Forged rims are stronger for their weight, but the really light ones will bend very easily if you hit something hard enough. Strenght-per-weight doesn't count for much if the rim doesn't weigh anything at all... :P

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I noticed that my Slipstreams are prone to bengkong, and one even suffered 2 cracks. We had it fixed for the moment and so far, it's doing ok. I guess the reasons why the mags get dented are because of its lighter weight (compared to other Rotas) and the low-profile tires. In other countries where there are no potholes, these wheels should do excellently.

On the other hand, the D2 was much heavier than the Slipstream. Could it be that it's made to suit our road conditions? Is it like more weight = more strength, or is the D2 constructed in a different way?

squala, I believe that it doesnt matter if the the wheel is lightweight or not. As I've said, the process CASTING/FORGING is what matters. Im afraid on a lightweight CAST wheel as opposed to lightweight FORGED wheel.

AFAIK, ROTAs built their wheel using CASTING tech, are you comparing the same size on Slips and D2s? Also, you have to consider that D2s have 'fat-lip' compared to Slips.

niky, what is your definition of REALLY light BIG wheels? an 18-inch by 10lbs? meron ba nun?

A wheel manufacturer will select a particular method according to the weight, strength and finish that they have specified for that design.
there's just no defense on pot-holes :bwahaha:

Why forge? Forging aligns the crystal structure, reduces porosity, and increases uniformity in the material, thereby increasing the strength to weight ratio and produces consistent results

naaliw ako sa wrxf dati kasi, dun ako naghahanap ng info about the VF-10 turbo sa mga older subies.

nugun, sobrang technical kse sa NASIOC kaya dun naman ang punta ko. Pero bihira ako mag-post, I can easily search for any technical issues I have. As a matter of fact, sila din ang dahilan ng pagbili ng WRX ko noon. Sobrang ganda ng Forum support nila.

    BTTT

matibay naman ang Rota kaysa Motegi yata...hehehe

sana lang ang Rota D2 face eh flat na lang kaysa kurba. Its going to compliment the fat-lip

    OFFSET by Tirerack.com

positive offset; found on most FWD
negative offset; found on most RWD

kaya kapag nakakita ka ng 'staggered setup' usually nasa RWD at deep dish wheel. At kailangan wide ang wheel, kinda 8-inch and above to achieve the proper deep dish look of an RWD.

    less OFFSET = deeper face
more OFFSET = shallow face (just look at the D2, compared to SSR SP1)

    sample staggered setup:
    SSR SP1 Professors 17"
    17x8.5 5x114 +22 (honda's lowest offset is 38, AFAIK)
    17x9.5 5x114 +30

another sample of a proper deep dish fat lip wheel

    SSR reverse mesh
    Front - 15x7.5 5x114.3 +7
    Rear - 15x7.5 5x114.3 +20
