under each brand, tire offerings can further be divided into these classes. be sure to check what class you need. i suggest looking at Standard Touring tires.
our previous tires were Yokohama A.drive. now, we are using Dunlop SP Touring T1. i would like to try Bridestone Turanza next time.
Passenger Tires
- Emphasize good wear, a plush ride and predictable handling
- Steering response and handling capability less than Performance or Touring tires
- examples: Bridgestone Ecopia EP20, Dunlop SP10, Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max, Michelin Energy LX4, Toyo Proxes A20, etc.
Performance (Sports) Tires
- Provide mixture of performance and appearance
- Upgraded appearance and performance over Passenger tires
- examples: BFGoodrich Radial T/A, Goodyear Eagle GT II, etc.
High Performance (Sports) Tires / Ultra High Performance (Sports) Tires
- Provide mixture of performance and appearance for sports car and sedan
- Provide very good handling and high-speed capabilities
- examples: (High) Bridgestone Potenza RE92, Dunlop SP Sport 7000 A/S, Michelin Sport A/S 3, Toyo Proxes 4 Plus A, Goodyear Eagle Sport, Kuhmo Ecsta AST, etc.
- examples: (Ultra-High) Bridgestone Potenza RE906AS, Dunlop SP Sport Maxxx, Dunlop SP Sport 5000, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, Kumho Ecsta ASX, Goodyear Eagle F1, etc.
Standard Touring Tires
- Blend a performance tire's appearance with a passenger tire's smooth, quiet ride
- Provide enhanced handling and treadwear, as well as good noise and ride comfort
- Place more emphasis on ride comfort and threadwear than Grand Touring tires
- examples: Bridgestone Turanza EL42, Dunlop SP Touring T1, Yokohama Avid Touring-S, Kuhmo Solus KR21, etc.
Grand Touring Tires
- Place more emphasis on handling and high-speed capabilities than Standard Touring tires
- examples: Bridgestone Ecopia EP422, Bridgestone Potenza RE97AS, Yokohama BluEarth S34, Goodyear Eagle LS, Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus, Michelin Primacy MXM4, etc.

Based on the canvass, Michelin or Bridgestone would be my personal choices. These two were once F1 suppliers before Pirelli took over at present.

Minerva Tyre Gallery at Macapagal sells Kumho. Check the production date when buying.

Federal tires ok din. But check the model also. Sikat ang Federal sa budget tire. But vote ko is Kumho ecsta parin

I've heard a lot of good feedback on kumho, nexen, federal, cooper and savero GT which I think is Gajah Tunggal.
Yung bad experience ni Cathy with GT, possible na old stock or under inflated yung tires kaya sumabog.
KILL, we should have a watch thread here in tsikot![]()

Cath, cheapest decent tires I've seen when I was looking for tires before for our Altis (205/55 R16) is Dunlop LM704 (4.3k) and Toyo Proxes (4.1k).
They should be much cheaper in 15" size.

Yung federal nga ba ay joint ventures ng Dunlop at Bridgestone ? Ok kaya performance at yung cost?

Three of my officemates use Federal.
One uses it on his daily driver Getz. Maselan and kuripot (ganda ng kombinasyon) pero he has no complaints about Federal.
The other uses it on his Revo that does double duty as people carrier (3 kids with yaya) and business hauler (fabrics). He also frequently travels fully loaded to Bulacan or Quezon. No complaints din so far.
The third uses it on a 90s model Legacy with a 2.5 turbo engine from an STi. He smokes boy racers routinely when the light turns green.
Last time I bought tires for my own ride was around 8 years ago. I got Bridgestone GR80s because my wife knew someone who gave us a huge discount. If I were to buy a set now I'll ask if our Bridgestone contact can still give us a good deal. If not I'll go straight to Payless![]()

Talked with my Tito this morning. He gets his used tires from Blumentritt although he did not mention a specific store. He showed us the front tires of his CRV that had around 95 tread still on it that he got for 1700 each.
^ puede na ah kahit sa year manufacture lang eh 2 yrs ago or 3 pa..

Most likely yan yung mga nagpalit agad ng stock rims and tires so kung matyaga kang maghanap solb talaga.
used federal before. lasted me 4 years. during its last few months its surface started chipping off. parang lumulutong na yung itchura.
given its thread pattern its quite noisy. pero not bad for a budget tire in my opinion. my friend who used the same one experinced cracking of the side wall nung paluma na yung tire.
switched to yokohama s-drive after. mas tahimik. so far good tires. good grip and quite durable. makunat talaga.
bridgestone turanza on my stock rims. no complaints on this one. quieter than the yokohama.
