Dude, I've been trying to tell these self-proclaimed rich kids and repeatedly asked to stick to the topic.
But they can't get enough telling the world how rich they are.

First time I came across a bunch of kids who can't get enough about telling others how rich they are - "Oh I drive a Hyundai but the truth is, I'm very rich"... sounds like a line coming from a kid growing up in a very dysfunctional family.

Alright, let's get back to our regular programming. The OP asked "how do Lexus cars really compare to European cars".

For people who has either owned or driven Lexus or the Euro cars, thanks for sharing your experience.

We don't need to agree to each other's opinions but I don't see the point in all these my dad is richer than yours BS.

Talk to the person who started raising a ruckus about non-owners not having a right to talk, then putting people on the ignore list. Uls, ghosthunter and I don't always agree (heck, GH and I almost NEVER agree), but we don't attack each other like that.

Reminds me of this. About 10 years or so ago. I bought a point-and-shoot Pentax from Costco. Went back to work that same day and played with it.
After 30 minutes, I decided to return it. My Korean boss asked me why? I said, it is made in the Philippines (back then, I wasn't a fan of any electronics made in the Philippines). He replied back "You're not to patriotic aren't you"...So I asked him "Would you buy a car made from Korea?"... and he replied back "Hell no"....

On the other hand, Korean cars have improved a lot compared to their Japanese counterpart. I flew to California recently and I was picked up by my driver in a Equus and I was pretty impressed and I would think they can compete with Infiniti and Lexus in their own game.

I guess any car brand has its ups and downs and MB had a lot of reliability issues back then. But they've stepped up their game in the last few years and has come out with many desirable models.

Even Lexus has been forced to make their cars more dynamic as they recently lost the US sales crown to the Euro brands. I don't see "rebadged" cars like the ES negatively as it serves a specific group of buyers anyway. Plus it helps Toyota get the needed profits to invest more in unique Lexus models like the IS and GS.

I think competition is good as it's us consumers who will benefit by having more choices. At least locally, Lexus' aggressive pricing means BMW/MB/Audi will be pressured to come up with more affordable or high value variants otherwise Lexus will continue gaining in our market.

Sounds like a nice topic. I'm curious when you said Daimler lost to Lexus and it can't compete with Mercedes.
Can you be more specific? Is it about performance or sales figures?

at least the dealership i had worked for just like the other dealerships, had mercedes, toyota, general motors and finally lexus. the mercedes crowd switched and bought lexus. even the cadillac crowd switched in favor of lexus. in terms of reliability, serviceability (i had worked on toyota, lexus and general motors), availability of parts, and customer satisfaction were in favor of lexus. basing on jd powers survey, the lexus came superior.

I would guess the age group of people who switched are in their 50's or so since that is Lexus' prime market (or maybe my perception is wrong so feel free to correct me). I'm not surprised if they are popular with JDPowers' survey since Toyota's strong point is reliability. I'm not sure how bad they got hurt with recent troubles with recalls but I guess they are doing better now with their voluntary recalls the past few months.

I hang out with my fellow age groups (30's) who are mostly into performance-oriented cars. Most people I know who currently drive Lexus are not really car guys.

i am a car service guy and i love to feed on customer's ego. they are good for the business. the more the customer brags the more i like it as long as they can pay for my labor. even when i am too inexpensive at $65 an hour, some rich people are still hesitant to pull their wallets out. gosh i love rich, generous and humble customers. it would be nice if there are lots of them

Okay, it's officially troll time. I give up. Irrelevant discussions my ass.. hell, I wasn't the one who steered the discussion to "I can list more than a dozen pages of cars my family owns". I stated my piece, gave my opinions on how Lexus compares to their European counterparts, and I don't really need these BS of luxury.

And since I loved what Shadow said.. I'll go make a meme for it.

he's telling everyone the only people with credibility to comment about cars are those who have OWNED said cars

pag may nag post tanong niya agad HAVE YOU OWNED ONE?

    sobra obsessed sa ownership

ina-assume niya agad yung nag post never OWNED the car

    ano gusto niya palabasin?

tapos binaligtad niya saying why do people here have to say they're rich

    WTF
