    Personally i have no kia carnival but recently when I go to a kia service center for my 10t km pms, The SA told me that the problem of Kia carnival is when it reaches 40t km, there is the problem of smoke emission. There is defect in the design of the turbo system wherein the the air intake and the exhaust is near each other thereby the exhaust air is mixed with intake. Something like that please check and they told me that they have corrected it by inserting a tube or pipe. Please check thoroughly this is only what I heard.

    hello mjramirez 09 eto mga tips kung bibibli ka ng carnival 2000 mdl upto 2005:

    * sakit na ng carnival ang oil pump chain madalas maputol pag 60k ang mileage (hindi lahat pero 1 out 5 cguro) kaya mas maganda kung direct owner ka bibili para matanong mo kung napaltan na nya yung chain. Maririnig mo sya pag naka start makina may parang maingay sa bottom left side ng makina.

    * valve cover gasket madaling bumigay at medyo may tagas ang langis sa valve cover i check mo din lalo na sa ilalim ng fuel injector.

    * almost lahat ng carnival and sedona ay mausok.

    * malamig aircon ng carnival kahit sa lokod malamig din.

    * fuel consumption 6 - 7 km/l

    * wala akong masabi sa ride ng carnival parang kotse and comfortable sya.

    I used to own a carnival 2000mdl A/T sold it (mababa ko sya nabenta d ko na sasabihin price kasi nakakalungkot lang) and bought a carens. Hope this can help you.

    madali naman ang remedyo sa mga sakit ng carnival... basta marunong ang gagawa... yung mga leaks naman eh talagang mataas ang probability ng oil leaks sa valve covers and oil pan pag diesel engine

    yung carnival ko before never gave me a major problem... ganda ng ride, lakas ng hatak.. mausok lang pag idle pero pag hataw na walang ka usok usok.. (same with isuzu crosswind mausok pag idle) malamig ang aircon...mabigat ang body kaya medyo mabagal din sa arangkada kasi mabigat ang malaki ang body nya.. matibay ang body hindi bulukin at mga bumpers nyan talagang bumper kasi matigas...

    we just traded it for a brand new kia carens... kia took the van 2001 model at 310k.. kasi maganda talaga yung van...

    One problem that I encountered on my 2002 Carnival is that starting a month ago, the left slide sliding door became very difficult to close. I still have to have this checked by a mechanic (sasabay ko na lang sa susunod na PMS), so I can't say as yet what the cause is.

    The previous posters covered the major items to check when inspecting a Carnival. It would also help if the previous owner kept service records so you will have a better idea of the repairs that have already been done to the unit. Sa unit ko (six years old and has logged close to 190,000-km), ang napaayos ko na ay shifter cable (replaced due to breakage), crankshaft pulley (replaced due to wear and tear), evaporator (replaced due to leak), and steering linkage (worn out, replaced).
