guys, had my tank drained and cleaned. Ang daming black colored sandy stuff nakuha, both from the filter and the fuel tank. My mechanic then noticed that may bumubula na lumalabas from the priming pump. When they dismantled it, they found out gasgas na, kaya may lumalabas na fuel, and that means may leak at may hangin, that's why kulang ang pressure. It may be the cause of my fuel knock. I really hope so. Still doesn't explain though why the fuel knock went away when I loaded with shell without biodiesel and it came back when I reloaded from a non shell station and with biodiesel again. But I did notice when I pumped it, supposedly to bleed it of any excess air and water, that its supposed to harden o maging hirap ipump once it has been thoroughly bled, pero di nangyari. Doon palang may konting duda na ako, but since Kia didn't say anything, nor did some of my mechanics previously, di na rin ako nag comment tungkol doon. Bumili na lang ako ng bagong priming pump assembly (whole set including new fuel filter) because they do not sell just the priming pump, and I left it at my in house motorpool. Will get the car either end of the day or tomorrow. (fingers crossed)

Diesoline, I tried to fit the vic fuel filter of an L300, di siya kasya sa priming pump, iba ang fit. This is in preparation of the next time I will change my filter, Racor na ang ikakabit ko! Ano kaya ang spin on filter ng racor na kasya sa sedona?

i guess that's the reason why my mechanic at casa told me to replace the priming pump assy every 20,000km.

i hope this is the final episode in the saga of altec's woes with his injection system. sana ok ka na after this, altec.

re the racor spin-on fuel filter, i just might have to junk my impression that the mitsu and kia fuel filters share the same tread in the priming pump. i will go check with fronte the next time i go there next week. or maybe, i will just call them tomorrow. just so you guys have an idea of what altec and i are discussing, here is a photo link to the racor spin-on fuel filter brochure:

btw folks, my carnival's stabilizer links have been rattling since yesterday. i have been traversing the manila-baguio-vigan-laoag route frequently the past months and i had seen the road deteriorate much in the last two months due to the rains. i have this bad habit of not slowing down when encountering rough patches of road. i have not yet adjusted my driving style because i have had 4x4s for a long time. the carnival is my first low-slung car. kaya ayan, last time ball joints ang pinagawa ko kay toti sa zee's, ngayon naman stabilizer links. toti quoted P150 for the polymer injection; fronte quoted P430 for new parts. i still can't get over the fact that kia parts are priced so low as compared to nissan parts.

And may it stay that way for a long, long, long time...

    Hello Guys,

Ok na yung Carnival ko after pumping the fuel filter. At first puro hangin. It took me three times separated by a few kilometers of driving bago lumabas yung diesel after just one pump. OK na siya.

Also when we drained the tank, wala akong nakitang dumi. It was very clean. So low level fuel condition coupled by weight of the passengers which tilted the body causing some air to enter the fuel system. Next time I won't let it go below 1/4 para iwas air sa fuel system.

Another nice thing about our J3 engine is that the oil is water cooled. According to the mechanic of Signet, The oil is cooled in a special water jacket. This means no need to have an oil cooler for the engine. I was asking kasi if we could fabricate an oil cooler for my carnival. Sabi niya hindi na raw kailangan dahil sa engine design.

The only thing I hate about our J3 engine is the headers going to the turbo. I feel we can still improve this by changing the headers to a more effificent design. The original headers is like an Austin morris header that crams all 4 exhaust ports to one main outlet before the turbo. I saw a beautiful Australian header design for the nissan patrol that gently ports each exhaust port to one big outlet. Walang bangaan ng exhaust gasses. Is there somebody here in the Philippines that can fabricate this header?

    tnx

    Hello Guys,

The design I have for the oil mist separator is puro sketches pa lang. Basically the it uses two stages. The first stage uses a cyclone type of separator. The pcv pipe enters this cylindrical device tangentially. This will create a spinning cycle on the walls of the cylinder. Oil which is heavier will stick to the wall and drip down to the bottom of the chamber. The bottom of the cylinder narrows like an icecream cone. The swirling air will then move to the top of the cylinder like a tornado minus the oil. Think of it as a glass of water and then stir it fast. When you remove the stirrer you will notice a tornado like funnel in the center of the glass. At the bottom of the cone is the oil collection reservior that you can drip back to the crankcase via gravity. Simple and elegant design. This design has no moving parts just pure physics. No maintenance. The draw back of this design is that it is only 80% efficient. The efficieny of separation becomes lower when the velocity of the PCV oil/air mixture is slow (low rpm condition).

Which brings me to the second stage, a highly effiecient coalesent strainer in cylinder that will catch whatever oil escapes in the first stage. Again oil collected will be dripped back to the crankcase via gravity. The output is then feed to the post air filter stage of the intake manifold.

I plan to mount this on the strut bar which is the highest part of the engine bay. So puro sketces palang mga pare.

    tnx

Ok na ang fuel knock ko after I changed the priming pump assembly. The problem is that their assembly is only the old design. Mas maliit ang filter cartrige niya. At first, sabi ng Kia, kasya daw ang slim cartrige with my old assembly, therefore, the old filter should fit in the new assembly. Mga loko, DI KASYA! So I went back and searched for Leolop's attached fuel filter pictures, duda ko ang stocks nila yung old design. Mga lokoloko, when I showed the pictures to them before, sabi nila puro new design na daw. Ma-away nga mamaya. But I have no choice, that's their only stock.

I asked them so next time we need to change the fuel filter, anong stock ang meron? They said yung filter using the new assembly. But when I asked what if di ko pinalitan ang assemby, e di wala na ang new filter? Meron din daw. Under what product code? Same daw. HUUHHH? I paid 3,500+ for the assembly.
