We are thinking of buying a Kia Rio 1.4. I just want to know the advantages and disadvantages of buying one.

How's the gas consumption compared to Kia Picanto?

    Thanks

This car is easily one of the most underrated subcompacts in the market today.

How underrated? IMO, removed the badge and change it to "Toyota".. this would be a bestseller...

A much better car as people perceived it to be....

yup maganda yung kia rio (korean market name is pride) 1.4L, sayang di nilabas ang 1.5crdi dito, mas gusto ko pa naman itsura nito over its brother--accent.

madami-dami na nga ako nakikitang taxi-sevice nito.. will ride one minsan pag may datung hehehe

Yes, they called it the Kia Pride in the Korean domestic market.

They probably did not bring the name here so as to dissociate it from the CD5. Rightly so because of the big difference in quality. But the Rio name is not that much better too--it evokes so much feminity. Hindi naman niche market ang target.

    Kia Rio vs Picanto

Bigger car (more interior space & trunk)
Ride quality is softer than Picanto.
Slightly less fuel mileage when compared to Picanto.
    Handles less precisely than Picanto.
Interior is very good (euro styling) (both for Rio & Picanto)
Exterior styling, well not really in my taste. I prefer the Picanto since it seems to have "character".

we have a 2007 kia rio AT and honda city 2006 VTEC CVT. Both have 205/45/R16

    KIA Rio

Comfort: Mas maganda suspension niya kumpara sa city. Kalampag talaga ang city.
Interior: Cheap looking plastics. Abysmal sound system
    Exterior: Looks ok but bland
    Engine: 94 Horses * 6000rpm
Transmission: 4 A/T, It feels fast. But actually it isn't that fast! The car feels heavy
    Safety: NONE! Seatbelt lang.
Fuel Consumption: Matipid! averaging 14km/L city driving. But can only manage 16km/L during long distances. Maybe because of the 4 speed only transmission

    Honda City:

Comfort: Kalampag talaga. Although manageable. Smooth to drive. (CVT)
    Interior: Best in Class!
Exterior: Love or Hate thing. But I love it!
    Engine: 110 Horses at 5800rpm
Transmission: This is where the fun comes from. CVT-7. Light years ahead!
    Safety: ABS/EBD/BA/Dual SRS (VTEC Only)
Fuel Consumption: I ave. 12km/l to 14km/l city driving and a record high of 21km/L long distance driving.
Others: Big Trunk space. Walang tatalo. ULT Seats. EPS. 4 Discs

For me, the 1.4 rio is a very great standard car. It does the job. Has ample power to propel it forward. Very comfortable along bumps and potholes. P590k is justifiable. Only thing i hate is the interior and the 4 speed AT. The car feels heavy too. If you want more power and class, get the vtec city. but thats just too expensive. 745k for the VTEC i own. But youve got tons of safety features, technological advancements and etc etc.

The new city is coming out soon! I wonder if the kia rio will have a facelift sooner.

Kia rio is actually a good buy! I love them both but I prefer the city.

    I also own a 2008 M/T Rio.
No problem so far....handling is very good.
Highly recommended especially if main purpose is family car.
When I was still in Manila, was able to get a FC of 15Km/L Manila <-> Batangas.

body seems to feel heavy but this for me is an advantage coz I feel a little bit more secure.

Aircon is strong although the knobs for temperature adjustment is a little
    bit mushy

Overall, I am happy with this car....

    OT:
saw 1 Kia Rio hatchback here in Cebu. Ang ganda lalo ng porma....
    Malamang imported

had a 200km road trip dito sa cebu.
    sarap mag-drive dito.

Observation ng rear seat passengers ko, matagtag daw....planning to ask the casa kung pwedeng magpalit ng aftermarket shocks without voiding the warranty.....di ko rin alam kung gas yung shocks or fluid....kung gas, malaki siguro maiitulong kung papalitan ng fluid shocks....

For the arangkada, acceptable naman sya....pero nagmumukha akong sobrang bagal dun sa kasama kong naka-yaris...

pero the travel itself....sarap i-drive ng rio....mas feeling stable sya due to wider body kesa dun sa yaris....especially since winding road ang dinaanan namin....

FC for the trip was only 13.4km/L....
