I really don't have any first-hand experience on this van but from what I've read before, the problems that were usually encountered pertains to the engine and the airconditioner. More often gets overheated, while the airconditioner gets problematic after a few thousand kilometer.

My aunt-in-law had a Pregio. Based sa experience, laging nasisira ang aircon. Tapos, mainit sa likod kapag middle of the day na. Fuel consumption, okay naman daw. Yung ride, dun sa van nya dati medyo stiff. The engine tended to overheat so they had to change the radiator. It had a built-in TV that was installed sa roof, but it was so far back that the front passenger would not be able to watch the movie. In addition, the screen was so small that it was only the middle passengers that could watch the movie.

Nissan (Escapade), ang naging problems were the front wheels. Laging napupudpod. Based on their queries sa Nissan, sakit daw ng Escapade 'to. I told them to replace the front shocks, which were fluid types, with gas shocks. So far, the 'pudpod' problem has been solved. Okay din ang fuel consumption. The ride is okay. Airconditioner is okay, kaya lang medyo mainit din sa likod during the middle of the day.

Toyota (commuter), masyadong mallit ang leg-room at stiff ang cabin seats. Wala pang head-rest. It also tends to get warm sa likod during the middle of the day. Fuel consumption is okay. The ride is okay also. Yung Super Grandia, luxirious ang loob kaya lang, IMO, magastos sa krudo. Pero ang trade-off naman eh excellent ride overall. Aircon malamig, kahit sa likod.

I would suggest to consider the 2005 Toyota Hi-ace Commuter. Better build quality, lower maintenance, more service centers, and better resale value. Di ka rin nakasave with a Kia Pregio.

One of my uncles and an officemate of mine have had nothing good to say about their Pregios. As the others have stated the most common (and always recurring) problem with this vehicle is the airconditioning system. My uncle's unit also needed to be overhauled after less than a year and a half of use.

Personally I would consider alternatives. Yes the price is affordable but the potential problems are just not worth it.

yup yung hi-ace simple-looking yet it has a very good engine (D4D). mahal nga lang masyado

we hav a pregio.. ok nmn xa.. kaso hinataw ng hinataw.. un.. kumatok ung makina... tas ung inoverhaul, panget paggwa! un.. katok ulit.. now ok na xa. la na marereklamo.. ung aircon nmn namin malakas... sobrang lamig nga e.. doesnt get hot nmn sa likod.. jus keep it wel maintained.. change oil ako every 3000km.. tune up.. and always chek the water in the reserv... then wag maxado hatawin.. stable nmn xa sa 120kph e.. un lng nmn po...

Nabili ko ang Pregio ko last July and been using it since then, almost 5000 kilometer na ngayon and no problem up to now, aircon is super lamig, temp is stable and smooth and takbo compared to other vans....and to other folk who gives opinions without hands on experience....Please???? I'm not even gonna say nothing....he he he

What's the engine of this new pregio? is it the same with the previous one?.

i suggest skip it for now. i used to work for a dealer of kias and its a pos. overheating, aircon problems, melting emblems, etc

Local engine is still the J series (2.7 diesel - around 80bhp). The Korean domestic market can be had with a 3.0 version of the J engine or a 4d56 turbo (from Mitsubishi).

I was planning to get one a few years ago. But I went for a brand new Besta 2.2 instead.

I think the balooning interior side panel problems have not yet been resolved.

a friend of mine bought one, unang na notice ko ang tahimik nya kahit naka aircon.

i just bought a used 1997 kia pregio ls with the JT 3.0 engine a couple of months ago....so far hindi ko pa naexperience na magoverheat and engine, and nasubukan ko nang ibyahe from pampanga to san fernando la union and then back again in one day. ok lang wala akong naexperience na problems. the only work ive done on the cooling systems is disconnect the water lines going to the front and rear heater units. (korean model ksi nabili ko) but so far wla pa problema binibigay sa akin ang engine, but the aircon is weak...lalo na ngyong summer, ride quality is good because of 4 wheel coil suspension and comfortable ang seats.

This is mainly due to the a/c system being non-tropicalized with the unit being made for the Korean market... you can have a local a/c shop bef up your a/ca bit.
