Kia has an ongoing event in Bonifacio High Street and got to test drive the new Carens.

I have to say that the new generation Kia's are very attractive and somehow better looking than Hyundai!

I agree that the new carens has a good exterior design but the price is to expensive. 1.480M for the TOTL model. Wow its like buying Montero or Fortuner already.

Kia must review its pricing kung gusto nila eto bumenta ng husto.

True, Kia pricing seems a bit high sometimes. I think most people choose Korean cars as a value proposition that's why few buy bigger sedans or higher variants where image plays a big role since brand perception is still lower.

But Carens is in a different class vs Fortuner/Montero and cannot judge them based on size alone. Fortuner/Montero is designed for developing markets that require no-frills and reliable cars that can fit whole families. While Carens is for international release and much more refined and advanced.

For the that price, the 5-seater Sorento provides better value (unless you plan to ferry around 5 adults plus 2 kids everyday). If you want more comfort and refined features plus bling factor, you can get the Optima instead.

Agree. Sorento is a better choice.

I personally inspected the Carens and I didnt see or feel anything special on the car that will warrant a 1.480M price on its TOTL variant.

However, should the price is lowered to 1.2M for its TOTL, isa ako sa pipila dito.

Price should be the same or lower than Innova to be competitive.

Eh pano ba yan, developing market tayo. More people would rather get a full-sized SUV that can also seat "7" than a low-riding MPV that can't brave floods, doesn't have a sturdy chassis, and is Korean.

Yung Sorento nga na ang ganda ng presyo, talong talo pa rin. Eto pa kaya. Expecting a major flop for the Carens.

True, I'm sure more will choose cars like Innova, Fortuner, Montero, etc if practicality lang ang usapan as these models were developed especially for our market.

But it's good to know that we get more choices like the Carens which is priced a bit higher than ASEAN models but still offers decent value.

Who knows, maybe the Kia importer doesn't even intend to sell huge numbers anyway and they are satisfied with their sales.

I went to Kia Ortigas to take a 2nd look on the New Carens, but what caught my attention instead is the Kia Optima. Almost the same price. If i have to choose between the two, mas maganda talaga Optima.

Good day! Mahirap maniwala na 7 seater pero totoo! Maraming nagulat dun sa 2008 model kaya magugulat din dito. Talagang "The Power to Surprise".

We cannot compare an MPV with an SUV. Magkaiba talaga design philosophy nila. The Carens is a 7 seater urban car while the SUV's are really for off road work. However, may possibility na ma upgrade ang suspension ng Carens para mas mataas but magiging matigas ang ride. Well, we can't have everything.

I think hanggang Sunday lang yung Kia event. But about high street, sobrang daming parking around the area. Doon sya malapit sa new restaurant area beside the future Shangrila hotel.

ser Mschumacher, long time no hear / no see....kmusta na?
