    Any advice on the following:

    1. i have already requested that the oil and filter be replaced, what else should i have checked or replaced - parts that are affected the passage of time ?

    2. does ceramic coating really work? is it worth it? any recommendations?

    3. what else should i know or have checked owing to the fact that the unit is a display unit?

    TIA
Congrats and welcome to the QL family,

    1. I would request ALL FLUIDS to be changed, including coolant, ATF, brake fluid, and of course filters, cabin filter as well. Sporty's are notorious for having some Aircon issues over time. Have them check the refrigerant/ freon level as well.

    2. Been wanting to try this out also, they say it is worth it if your car is out in the sun a lot.

    3. Check the interior for any stains on the seats and carpets, if it's a display unit, there may have been hundreds of people who've already sat in it. We hope it doesn't have any unusual odors.

    Post some pictures!

2017. my initial impression on the doors are that they are okay. I already saw the actual unit but i only checked for the quality of the paints and cabin (scratches and dirts). I did not notice anything wrong with the doors but will do a thorough check during the release.

Thanks. I forgot to include the ATF and brake fluid. will request that as well and filters as well and freon too. the car still smells new though there are some stains on the headliner which i asked them to clean.

Someone also told me about the thin film that they put on your car which is self-healing (saw videos of cars being scratched by a steel brush and the scratches disappear - im not sure how real its self-healing properties are.

one thing i hate about getting a new car is the oc-ness that comes with it and in my experience, it usually lasts at least a year or two.

I will post pictures as soon as i get the car. the documents are still being processed - change unit and dealer. So there are some paperwork involved.

Change dealer? ACI na? We hope they will let you observe when they are working on the car.

In most casas, they don't allow it, but thankfully for KIA dealers, they will let you hang around the workshop and talk to the mechanics.

In the last 3 visits to my dealer, I spent all of the time watching and asking the technicians everything I could regarding the work they've done on previous Sportys.

Ceramic Pro has a new product now, Kavaka, which is a self healing protective film. I'm thinking of asking for the fascia and headlights, waiting for reviews.

Make sure the cargo screen is with the car. That thing cost P12k if you have to buy it as extra.

I originally intended to buy from iconic (which is Ayala owned) but changed to wheels inc. because the latter (inherited Columbia's stocks) and wheels inc offered a significant discount.

Im not sure if i will have the opportunity to observe the change oil etc. I already asked them to do but I did not insist on being present. will probably have to trust them that they changed the fluids. will try to check if the oil looks new but other than that all i can do is trust them i was told that the unit is aready in the dealership and they are probably working on it already. I expect to get the car tomorrow or Friday.

im also considering either ceramic coating or the self-healing films. Is ceramic coating worth the 15-25k cost?

Kia Manila Bay? They will all be under warranty anyway since Wheels, who own Kia Manila Bay, is an accredited ACI dealer.
Regarding the ceramic coating, if you do decide to have it coated, there are numerous places, like Ziebart & South Casa in Molino. Price will depend on thickness & duration of the coating. Prepping for coating entails paint correction & detailing. Since that is a considerable expense, if I may just suggest, why not defer that for the future when paint will really need detailing. For now, get a paint protector, like 3M Synthetic Wax protectant & apply a few coats to protect the paint. You can always refresh the looks to like new in the future by detailing & coating.

Wheels Inc's branch in New Manila - Kia Erod.

I figured that since its new, no or minimal detailing will be required and since the paint is new, its the best time to have it coated. im not sure though if the claims by shops that the coating lasts 3-5 years, some even claim as much as 10 years gloss is real.

Do you mean the Tonneau cover sir Bloo?

Because there's also a Net Cover for the Sporty which is separate, although this is not offered locally, I've been trying to find one at a cheap price.

May I ask why you won't have the opportunity to watch? Conflict of schedule? Personally, that's a big deal for me, to ensure they actually do the work specified and that no shortcuts or mishaps occur. It's one of the reasons I chose KIA. Unlike Toyota, Mitsu and other dealerships who often don't allow owners to get anywhere near the workshop area.

In any case, we hope you'll have a chance to check everything out before signing for it.

If you were getting the unit in my neck of the woods, I would be glad to assist you. I'm only sorry that I hate driving to and in Manila.

That’s a good price in Amazon. I use the cargo net of my Accent hatch instead. Why no try checking out Hyundai dealerships? I used to see them selling those.
Thanks also for the tip on Amazon. I am now looking for something maybe useful

I haven't thought of that, thanks for the tip sir Bloo. The ones I see in malls are not big enough for my needs.

Let me know again when you have time to drop by Clark or Subic, planning on something for our little group, I've spoken to 2 other QL owners in my area, both doctors, and they are also interested.

As you put it, our Sportys are quite rare, we might as well have a support group of fellow QL owners as well.

It actually never occurred to me to observe, i guess i trusted them since it is also in their interest to make sure that the oils are all okay because the unit is covered by the 5 year warranty.

But now that you mentioned it, i asked the SA to take pictures of the actual oil change etc. or maybe i should ask them to let me observe? i can ask them to hold off on the oil change until the day they are going to release the unit so i can observe and be present.

I also saw that net thing being sold on Ali Express - yes i know :-) i already started buying stuff for my undelivered sportage. lol

That’s where the fun starts. But I doubt you’ll be getting too much for it since it’s pretty much equipped. With mine, which is not a GT, first things I bought were door kick protectors, door pocket films, then exhaust pipe finisher, console tray, door courtesy light, car mats, cargo cover... haha! Have fun!

Sure you can try and rely on the 5-year warranty sir, but for me, it just adds to my peace of mind knowing they did the work they're supposed to.

I guess it might just be me, whenever I see my car lifted up and being worked on, I cannot pass up the opportunity to take a good look at all the parts, nooks and crannies underneath. It gets the most beating during our daily drives so it is essential to have all of those parts in tip-top condition.

On more than one occasion, I was able to spot something that others may have missed, loose bolts, missing fasteners, leaking oil seals.

Buying accessories for your new car is part of the exciting process of it all, kind of like getting new toys to complement your other new toys. First thing I bought was an upgraded Dash Camera.

    Hehe. Enjoy sir!
