That's not just for Australia, that's the All-New 2018 Rio.
The All-New Rio hatchback was first unveiled in Europe (Paris), where B-segment hatchbacks are popular.

In the US, the 5-door hatchback was unveiled together with the 4-door sedan variant.

One of the main things stopping some carmakers from selling diesel variants here specially in the subcompact car segment is pricing. Diesel variants cost a lot more than their gasoline counterparts, not unless they start removing standard features.
In most cases subcompacts have small displacement gasoline engines which are efficient enough.
I guess we'll just have to wait till Kia Philippines announces which Rio models they'll bring in here.
Looks like the Philippine-spec 2017 Rio will only be available with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine, at least for now.

The 1.0T will be a good match for the Ecoboost Fiesta. 190nm?

That's over a 50k+ price bump. Wtf, are all the variants sporting that hideous head unit? Its 2017...

end of the year pa for aussie markets. they have the same 1.4 133nm engine as ours. so if they do get the 1.0T "maybe" we might get it...

I'm curious about the spec level of the Rio SL. That would seem to be their volume driver for this model.
735k for the MT puts it squarely into Vios E MT category. The 845k AT is in an unusual spot between the City E and City VX, so it better be competitive with kit.
I'm digging the Euro understated styling. Not so much the 4AT.
