    Hello,

Happy owner ako ng Rio HB 2012, which I bought just last Aug 2012.

Question lang po: meron na po ba dito ang nakapagpalit na ng head unit ng Rio HB 2012 into that one na may gps, TV, rear view cam and DVD player?

If meron, how much kaya lalabas yun?

    Hello,

Just want everyone to know na I am a very satisfied owner of Graphite Rio HB 2012. I love everything about it, especially its features and the looks. Head turner talaga. Regarding sa fuel consumption, before ko pa sya binili, my expectations were already set. I think Kia has been honest enough about it, and so hindi dapat sabihin na ang Rio HB ang may fuel consumption issue o problem.

Kung iisipin naman kase, those who are complaining are normally those na city driving lang. Pansin ko and based na rin sa mga kakilala ko, regardless if Jazz, Fiesta, Rio, halos di na nagkakalayo yan ng FC pag city driving. Ok sige na, baka marame ang magreact dyan, pero sa experience ko with my new HB, not bad na rin na I am running mga average 10 km per liter, pero pag minalas malas na talagang kupad traffic, 8 km per liter lang. And I believe na that rating can still be improved, kase naniniwala ako na medyo mabigat yung paa ako sa gas kase dati ang dinadrive ko is Toyota Corolla 1994 1.6 GLI.

I think Kia deserves to be given the stage to show off this time. To those na may FC problem with their Rio HB, please check your driving habits. If you believe that there is nothing wrong or nothing you can do on them, please don't blame it on your car. It was your choice; you should have done your homework before buying it. It is all out in the open naman that Kia never bragged that their HB is fuel efficient compared to others.

    Congrats!

    Hi c_cube,

Like what I said, I still have a lot to improve on my driving habits, so the ratings I mentioned are yet to improve. Also, if you read and understand well what I mentioned, the Rio was never boasted as a most matipid car. I believe its fuel consumption is relatively acceptable. And again, enough discussion on the fuel consumption. On the other aspects, I think the Rio wins. It has the features that no other car has at its level and at its price. I do not know if your elantra has the same features as my Rio HB (push button engine start-stop, rain sensor, sunlight sensor, folding side mirrors with signal light, cooler glove compartment, dashboard display (e.g. instanteous fuel economy, average fuel consumption, distance before empty, tire rotation, maintenance check schedule & alarm, etc.), bluetooth enabled music player & hands-free call, fog lights, back sensors on reverse with alarm and display, cruise control, steering wheel buttons for music & volume control.. not sure if I mentioned it all.. and to top it all, the looks is great, real head turner. Konti lang kame sa market, so pansinin talaga.

Ofcourse, if features and looks do not much matter, but rather the fuel consumption, then do not go for the Rio HB. At least there is just a handful of us with Rio HB.

Although c_cube, gusto ko rin yung Elantra. Di ko lang pinili yan kase medyo hindi maganda ang experience ko with the Accent na ginagamit ko with my previous company. And I am not really a fan of sedan body; hatchback porma talaga type ko. In fairness, beauty rin yan Elantra

Actually confusedfish i myself own a nearly 5 month old rio hb with 32xx odo. i get an average of 8.5-9 km/l with mixed driving.

Lets say im just a little lucky because most owners get 6-7 km/l and there is one hb owner who gets less than 6km/l.

But arent you puzzled why the bigger engine elantra, altis, and civic are more economical than our 1.4 liter rio hb? Heck even the mazda cx5 is more economical with a 2.0 engine.

Yes you are correct that kia never introduced or advertised rio as an economical car BUT you think with its engine size and body, it should consumed MORE fuel than the other brands in the same category? It is acceptable if the margin is 1 km/l but with a margin of 2-3 km/l...

EPA discovers Hyundai, Kia have inflated fuel-economy figures - News | TopGear.com.ph. Hehehe feeling ko may pakawala

    Check this out

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)*has uncovered significant discrepancies between the actual and the claimed fuel economy of Hyundai and Kia vehicles sold in the US. The EPA is the federal government agency in charge of ensuring that the*mileage figures*declared by car companies are accurate so as to protect the American consumer and also to see if automakers are complying with the government's fuel-economy regulations. The agency*conducted the investigation after receiving "a number of consumer complaints about Hyundai mileage estimates."

The Hyundai and Kia brands both belong to the same Hyundai Kia Automotive Group based in Seoul, South Korea. Together, they form the fifth largest automotive company in the world as of 2011, next only to General Motors, Volkswagen Group, Nissan-Renault and Toyota.

The EPA discovered that nearly all vehicles in the product lineups of both Hyundai and Kia have a discrepancy of one to two miles per gallon (mpg). The highest discrepancy is*6mpg for the Kia Soul in highway driving. One mpg is equivalent to 0.425km/L.

"Consumers rely on the window sticker to help make informed choices about the cars they buy," said Gina McCarthy, assistant administrator for the EPA's Office of Air and Radiation. "The EPA's investigation will help protect consumers and ensure a level playing field among automakers."

The EPA*is said to routinely test 150-200 vehicles a year--or "about 15 percent of the possible vehicle configurations"--to ensure that "their performance matches the mileage and emissions data required to be submitted to the agency by automakers."

As a result of the investigation, both*Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America will lower their fuel economy estimates "for the majority" of their 2012 and 2013 model-year vehicles.

Check out the chart below for the old fuel-economy claims versus the adjusted ones.
