yes. yung instant fuel consumption kasi parang bar tapos lagi nagfluctuate can't read it right. ave fc display yung binasa ko.

you have better FC, kasi pure highway yung 13.5km/L ko. kung mix city with light traffic nasa 8km/L lang based on my previous post. im sure gaganda pa yan once you reach 1000km.

my FC has slightly improved lowering consumption by 0.8-1.2 (li/100km) odo at 1100+km
from 8.8 to 8.0Li/100km and from 14.4-13.2li/100km. same route same traffic, still hoping for better numbers

Congrats sa new unit mo, wala naman malaki effect ang hitch mount, hindi naman sobra ang weight niya.

If you can wait for the Sportage CRDi, yun nalang. Pero if you really need the car now, Tucson nalang.

Denso, ElringKlinger help cut CO2, weight in the new Kia Sportage

    Alex Boekestyn
    Automotive News Europe -- August 17, 2011 06:01 CET

The Kia Sportage is leaner and greener thanks to contributions from Denso Corp. and ElringKlinger AG. Denso of Japan provides the Sportage’s optional stop-start system, which cuts power to the engine when the medium SUV is stopped at a traffic light. Denso also supplies the SUV’s dual CVVT (continuously variable valve timing) for both the intake and exhaust valves and the oil-flow control valve to the vehicle.

The contributions help cut the SUV’s 2.0-liter diesel’s CO2 emissions to 147 grams per kilometer from 187g/km in the equivalent model from the previous generation. The Sportage’s 2.0-liter gasoline version goes from 194g/km to 177g/km.

Weight is saved in the Sportage by using all-aluminum construction in its gasoline engine with a cast aluminum block, cylinder head and sump. The cylinder head gaskets are supplied by ElringKlinger of Germany. Overall, the new Sportage’s weight was cut by 91kg compared with the last-generation model.

The SUV also is available with either a new 1.7-liter diesel or a 1.6-liter gasoline version, both of which are being introduced in the updated Sportage.

Kia manufactures the Sportage at locations in eastern Europe and Asia. Starting in 2012, all production will be on a unified platform and model code. In eastern Europe, the Sportage is built at Kia’s plants in Zilina, Slovakia and Kaliningrad, Russia. Peak production is forecast by IHS Automotive to be 88,000 in 2013 and 2014, while combined global production volumes will continue to rise through to 2017 thanks to increasing production at the company’s plant in Yancheng, China.

wow 19km/L? pretty good. Question sir, how'd you get it to show KM/L vs. L/100 KM?

Would be nice if the locally available Sportage had this Stop/Go feature. Lower emissions is always good

Ok, initial impressions on the Sportage. My previous vehicle was a 4x4 Everest so I'm pretty easy to please. Everest was one tough baby, quite a workhorse. Brought it up to Pulag once and had to carry back 8 passengers plus complete gear back to Baguio because the other vehicle ( a Fortuner) broke down but those days are done so wanted a more 'civilized' ride.

Anyway, so I won't even touch on the handling and acceleration because obviously way better than an old 2.5 turbo diesel. So am completely loving that already.

It's more on the little details that I also appreciate, like
    - yes the DRL of course. Until more cars come equipped with this will definitely be an eye catcher
    - headlamps that shut down automatically after 15 seconds if you forget to turn off. Immediately turns on as well when you push the unlock button. Nice way to impress a date
    - somehow even at 17 inches the wheels look larger. Almost always the first impression when friends see it
    - rear assist that also provides an icon showing how far is the obstacle and if it's mostly center or to the side. Yes audio cues are good enough, but nice little detail. Nonetheless
    - attention to safety. Nice that even the center passenger gets a over the shoulder seatbelt
    - doors lock automatically when you go to D. Unlock when keys are removed.
    - projector lamps are nice and bright, I feel it's as strong as even my previous Everest on high beams
    - soft leather (?) accent by the doors. Nice place to rest those arms.
    - iPod acces via the head unit. Now I guess I have to buy an iPod ...
    - holistic (in guess that's the word) design. Notice how the windshield tapers off in the center is recreated in the grill and the rear windows?
    - almost flat floor in the back, means a bit more comfort for our center passenger. He gets a headrest as well. Another little safety detail.

    Yes babaw lang kaligayahan ko

That said, couple of things that are not so good
    - I feel there's a lot of blind spots. The A and B pillar feels huge, and the high belt line also means that smaller passengers are quite 'swallowed' up in the car. It's good that the driver side has a height adjustment otherwise short people will really not be able to see anything. Makes for a nice sports car feel I guess, but I feel I have to be a bit more cautious here than even my old Everest. In fact my wife doesn't even feel confident to drive the Sportage at all.
    - not a lot of little storage space, no little nooks here and there to stow an ID, wallet, and other small stuff. I guess on the other hand it really looks clean inside.

the A pillar is the one that's really huge, laki ng blind spot tuloy, anyway nothing like careful driving can fix.

yan din napansin ko kulang ng nooks, so the cupholders double as my cellphone and wallet holders hehe, buti nalang medyo malaki yung glove box

pansin ko rin lumakas hatak, odo still around 1200+km

btw you made a slip up there my friend -'Nice way to impress a date '

-'In fact my wife doesn't even feel confident to drive the Sportage at all.'

    hehe

Mga bro ,wag kayong masyadong magsaya ,u need to thoroughly check your new sportage ..ayoko sana pati kayo ma disappoint kaso i want to share my bad experience with my sportage ...Kse 1 week ng nasa service shop ng kia because last week when I have a full tank biglang nag gas spill sa floor ng petrol station ...galing under my car ..meaning may gas leak na galing sa ilalim ng sportage ko ...pina check ko agad sa technician ng gas station at itinaas ,nakita nila na galing ang leak sa may parteng taas ng gas tank ,malalaman nyo itong problemang ito pag nag full tank kayo...

So ang fingding ng kia service shop : " replace the gas tank daw" ,bukas pa lang gagawin ang replacement since the spare part nanggaling pa sa korea...

I just want to share to all new sportage lovers na be cautious lang to find any problem since covered naman tayo ng warranty nila...Enjoy your rides mga bro ....cheers

Teka anong bansa ba yan, dito sa Pinas o hinde?

Tingin ko quality control issue lang yan.

*jury_c: Kia Sportage na. Looks palang tapos na usapan.

Marami pa stock dun sa agent ko, anong color gusto mo?

Nasa Dubai ako bro, sana nga isolated case lang ito ,sabi sa kia shop ang damage part is a valve going to the gas tank ,pero parte sya ng gas tank system kaya buo nila itong papalitan ...to be sure check nyo lagi kung may naaamoy kayong amoy gas kse before ako nagpa full tank napansin ko na na may nangangamoy gas na .....mag pa full tank kayo lagi para ma detect ito kse for sure tatagas ito sa ilalim ng ng car nyo.... Di bale mga bro under warranty naman mga car natin cguro because of so much hot weather dito....Enjoy your rides mga bro ....

Road trip to Baguio, banat Lang against the storm.
Overall till I reached Marcos highway ave consumption is 8.3L/100kms. Magaan talaga dalhin. Going up through Marcos Highway lumakas uli ang kain, around 15L/100km uli. Medyo wanting sya on the steep climbs, and the sportronic transmission really helps on the overtakes pataas. On the other hand, super sarap say through the winding roads, not minding the occasional landslide, road constructions, strong rain and winds and almost zero visibility
