I've extensively driven two Carnival's already, and I noticed that it actually has a habit of shifting at 3000rpm from 1st to 2nd gear. I have to put it in manual mode to coax it to shift at the usual 2000rpm. Worth noting that one of the Carnival's is chipped, and it shifts significantly earlier though.

Brakes are also inherently heavy. They work fine, but the pedal effort takes some getting used to.

How much has your unit ran already?

Did some googling and didnt find a good answer.

Whats the best way to do this? Am hesitant to disconnect the battery as that might require a manual reset of the alarm system, tama ba?

    Thanks!

I've always thought this was its "default" setting. It would shift at 3000 from 1st to 2nd but would proceed to shift at 2000 on the succeeding gears, as if it just needed to build that initial momentum. Both Carnival's I've driven, one 2010 and the other 2011, both LX LWB, shift the exact same way. The 2010 unit was later on installed with a Unichip Q4, increasing max output by 28whp and 63ft-lbs, which lowered the initial shifting to around 2000-2500rpm.

How is this resetting done? This is actually the first I've heard of it.

I have 82+++ on the odo. I guess its the lack of overdrive on the tranny?

Other than that just belt squeaking when i turn on the aircon. No other issues.

Im looking forward to putting some hiway miles on it soon hehe

    Thanks!

Better have the squeaking checked ASAP. I used to have that too. Shrugged it off as a minor issue. After continued use for a couple of weeks or so, turned out with a burnt magnetic clutch in the AC compressor. AC just conked out all of a sudden. While we were out of town too! Cost an arm and a leg to repair. Almost had to replace the whole compressor too if they hadn't found the right part at the last minute. This happened to me at 68tkms.

this is for most hyundais but this is suggested for newly replaced transmission fluid.

warm the transmission as said on step 1. and go thru the sequence the steps. note throttle position...

The next upgrade I would like to make is to put steering wheel spacer kasi maiksi ung mga galamay ko di kumportable since hindi adjustable ung haba nya.

Meron kaya sa banawe or sa Concord nabibiling Steering Wheel spacer like this Car Adjustable Steering Wheel Extender Boss Kit Hub Spacer Adapter 35 to 65mm | eBay

Um using Carnival 2011 2.9 EX LB. Thanks sa sasagot

Read your manual again for the operation of your automatic transmission.. usually if uphill there is no need to go sports mode and stay in 1st gear.. D will do the job.. use sports mode to lock in gear you want to maximize engine brake downhill or if you need to speed up quickly otherwise D is just fine. There is also a limited time you can safely stay in 1st gear.. any longer can burn the transmission

it might be your cooling system, aka, clogged radiator.
some cars have an aircon cut-off when the engine temp goes up.

I believe driving in First gear for a minute would suppose to not cause your engine to overheat. It is still too short of a time. I suggest you have your engine check for cooling system problems especially in scenario's where your engine is under high RPM's. Probably the Water pump, Fan motor, Fan Clutch (if you have one), Thermostat valve, and the Radiator are normally the parts you need to check.

^Agree. IIRC medyo high mileage na ang unit? Perhaps you can do a radiator overhaul. Another would be to check if the fans are working. Once I noticed my right side fan wasn't working. Mechanic said it contributed to the early demise of the AC magnetic clutch too.

Question din sirs: on the drive pansin ko na biglang tumaas yung idle speed from 800 rpm to 1k rpm. When stepping on the brake it goes back to 800 (whether in gear or neutral). Mejo weird, pag naka preno ka 800 ang idle pero pag bibitawan yung brake aakyat sa 1k. All conditions yun kahit naka neutral and stopped or in drive and coasting.

Any other suggestions or theories?

    Thanks!
