tip: drag your 4th gear to 150 mark before shifting to final gear, make sure your engine is hot hot hot

Based from the post of 2tski3, he didn't mention any special modifications in his truck. That is why I am also wondering how he managed to go that fast. With mine, it is almost done at 175 kph. I don't know if it can go faster if I downshift but I am afraid to strain the engine since at 175 kph, the tachometer reading is almost red line already.

Bro, alin ba yung makina ng D-Max mo? Baka yung mas lumang 4JH1 engine? If so 175km/h seems pretty reasonable. Kung yung 4JJ1, has it always been this way? O baka kailangan lang ng maintenance o kaya hindi maganda ang pag break in sa kanya?

I have the 4JJ1. It's an 08 model with DDI Iteq engine. It has always been that way. After the 1,000 km break in, I tried it right away and at 175 kph, it was almost done. It just didn't want to go faster anymore. Perhaps it will but the speedometer was literally crawling already and at times it will slow down or reduce speed which feels like it has its own speed limiter.

I don't know if I did the proper break in but I did bursts before even reaching 140 then back to 100 then burst to 120 and so on but I didn't go beyond 150. Something like that. I just didn't let it go beyond 3k rpm for long period of time. Most of the time I let it play in the 80 to 100 kph in its first 1,000 kms and that was also the reason why I was able to pull off that more than 1,000 kms in one full tank but I couldn't do it anymore thereafter.

That's odd, I suppose not all engines were created equal then. Is it crawling like this one? If so, maybe just a bit more patience is required. I suppose it reached top gear at the 175km/h mark and it would crawl all the way to its top speed if you keep the accelerator floored. Maybe you'd like to try cleaning and/or replacing the air and oil filters and see if the performance improves.

bro you can't compare the performance of your 4-year-old truck to the newer ones. dont forget that you are in the PH, the home i guess for the most dirtiest diesel fuels, especially those of Petron. engines and systems of same trucks/models are created equal, even the settings at every ECU. so as time passes by, the performance of your truck depends mostly on its health.

another info, i have a friend who owns the same model you have - 08. when we compared our engine, there is a slight difference between the 08 and the 10. i can't tell the part name but its a thing above the turbo. try comparing it with other newer models for you to see.

I was able to find a video of what I was trying to say. If you would observe, once it got to 175, it was almost crawling and it started to stop at almost a hairline above 180 then it reduced speed to 175 and I suppose the driver eased off his step on the gas and when it got to 155, the driver put pressure on the gas pedal again but this time it was almost stuck at 170 already.
