It's the 1st time I heard of that "theory" --- and frankly speaking, it does not make any sense.
CRDI (in principle) is an advanced Injection technology of the Diesel Engine where the Diesel pumped by a Injection pump is sent to a Common gallery called RAIL which is always maintained at constant high pressure. From Rail the diesel is sent to the Electronically controlled Injector where it gets injected into the cylinders. As the Injector receives Diesel from the common pressurized gallery it is easier to control the time and quantity of the Injection accurately.
Top of mind, here are some advantages of CRDI technology
1. Improved Fuel Efficiency
2. Lower pollutants in Exhaust gas
3. Reduced Engine Noise
4. Improved Engine Performance
Having said those, CRDI were not developed to limit the use of the vehicle equipped with this. Short or long drives, it does not matter. The life of ANY diesel (CRDI or not) engine is highly dependent on PROPER USAGE and MAINTENANCE.
Hope this helps.

Maliit lang ginamit ko sir, pero merong malaki around 6” in length from end to end.
Naka 380km na ko with this catch tank, oil free pa rin ang hose going to the pre turbo intake and not even half teaspoon of oil accumulated sa glass. Will be replacing the outlet hose to a clear one like yours, so there will be a quick visual confirmation if the filter is doing its job.
