    guys,

i know this might have been already discussed on the previous threads but in general...i just wanted to find out if i have the same reading with my fellow isuzooers who have the TFR/TFS here...commonly known as just the isuzu LS pickups, and the MU's.

Normal operating temperature is at almost 1/2 of the guage, but mine goes down when moving, tapos pag natraffic ulit, balik sa almost a half...lalo na ngayon malamig ang panahon mejo bumababa sha to 1/4 and even slightly lower pa pag sinabayan ng ulan...usually don't have the prob during day/lunchtime driving...d ko alam kung ganito na sha dati pa, para kase ang tanda ko, once it reaches the 3/4 level, steady na sha kahit pa moving...unless na paparanoid lang ako. (which i have been lately).

i notice na parang iba ang takbo kase kung nasa 3/4 level sha eh...mas tahimik and mas powerful, lesser white smoke when coming from a full stop(?), but then again, baka psychological lang that's why im asking if this is normal with the LS. sabi sakin, baka daw yung valve eh laging naka open? (did it make sense?) pero most of whom i have asked, normal daw yon. i am hoping to get some enlightenment on this.

    TIA!

afaik the higher temp the diesel engages the efficient it becomes. when the vehicle is moving, esp in high speed, the engine submits to air drag thus your temp gauge normally drops which is in contrast when it is in idle on traffic.

You might want to check your thermostat valves. Posibleng na stuck na siya sa open position, hence the low temp. If this is the case, palitan mo na ang valve since diesel engines need to operate at a certain temp. hth

ganyan din nangyari sa hilander ko.

i thought it was only the weather that causes the sudden change in thermostat level...

yun pala, yng oil cooler hose may singaw na pala, unti-unti na nyang inuubos na nya laman ng radiator, pero yng reserve tank nasa full level pa rin.

*** oil cooler hose is right beside the oil filter ... hindi gaanong napapansin 'to kahit i-open mo yng hood ng engine. better have ur ride lifted sa gas station para ma-check 'tong 6-inch hose! ***

pag na-traffic ako, nasa 1/4 yng thermostat level ... pag umarangkada na (running 40 kph or more) umaakyat bigla to 1/2 or 2/3 level ...

pag naka aircon ako during traffic, mababa naman - 1/4 level lng (dahil meron akong aux fan sa harap) pero kng may aircon at 40 kph or more, biglang taas ang temp & yng idling bumabagsak sa 500 rpm pag naka neutral.

have ur cooling system checked out right away. u don't want to end up on an overheated engine!

*jagxtrm...sir, my problem is opposite to what you had, sakin kase bumababa eh, never na umabot sa 1/2 or 2/3.=)

*djerms...san kaya ok patingin? naiinis ako kse lahat ng napagtanungan ko, normal naman daw yon kse nga because of the wind...so parang convinced naren ako na normal. yung sa trekker naman namin, d bumababa cruising or idle pa.

    Beetols,
I dont think the wind can affect the temperature to a noticeable level unless sobrang lamif ng environment.

Thermostat valves, madali lang ipacheck yan. Actually para wala ka na iniisip, just buy a replacement one then have it installed sa suking mekaniko. Before installing it, test if it works. Boil it in water.

*Djerms - I think you're right pare, I just had my thermostat replaced yesterday and I can immediately tell the difference from using a malfunctioned one.

sabi ng mechanic, nagwowork pa naman daw pero misaligned na daw...it still closes and opens pero pag close eh hindi na nya mashado ma seal (i get the logic kahit d ko maimagine how the open and close positions look like)

anyways, now my reading is steady at almost 1/2 level all the time, at mas mabilis naren shang magwarm up sa umaga...smoother acceleration unlike before na medyo pigil talaga. got the OEM thermo at P890 from isuzu.

    thanks pare!

No problemo. I got the tips and learned how thermostat works here in tsikot thru Otep, Ungas and Alfred. L200 days ko pa yun. I'm just passing on the knowledge.

    Happy driving!

pansin ko rin sa swb bighorn (4jg2) namin na less than 1/2 palagi yung reading ng temp guage nya. is this normal? nakatakbo na yung car ng 15kms pero less than 1/4 parin yung reading. possible thermostat valve din ba problem nito?

have you checked kung me thermostat installed pa? kung wala, the more air flows into the radiator really cools the coolant thus lowers the temp. including gauge po.

haven't check if there's a thermostat installed pa. actually hindi ko alam where makikita yung thermostat. saan po ba banda makikita yung thermostat?

ang tagal umakyat ng temp gauge kahit naka idle lang sya. less than 1/4 yung reading kahit mga 15mins na naka idle sa umaga.

AFAIK, iba iba naman ang normal operating temp. ng mga yan...ang alam ko pag may functional thermostat ka pa ay consistent ang reading mo...once it reaches 1/4, dapat d na sha bumaba when cruising or idle, when climate is warm or cold. checked this with our 2 other isuzus.
