btw, the unit im looking at has full service records from INTECO and has 52,+++km.

try backreading, read the recalls in other countries or read the first post...
IRREGARDLESS OF REGULAR PMS BY ISUZU OR WHEREVER, ALL 4JX1 ARE DEFECTIVE, STOP KIDDING YOURSELVES AND HOPE THAT YOURS ARE FEW OF THE ONCES NOT DEFECTIVE. IF THAT WERE THE CASE THEN THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR AUSTRALIA, JAPAN, NEW ZEALAND, UNITED KINGDOM TO ISSUE THE RECALL. READ UP AND WAKE UP. YOURS WILL COME IN DUE TIME.

SELL IT ASAP.

Hi! im just a newbie here and i'd really appreciate it if you guys can help me out. I came across a bank repossessed 1999 4JG2 4WD M/T TROOPER. The guys from the bank dont know if it's in running condition since they had to dismantle the ignition component of the car for them to be able to tow it to the bank's yard. One of the people peeps who towed the poor thing is a good friend of mine and he said that the trooper was parked neatly at the garage of the mortgagors house when they took, it with no signs that it has bogged down or was under repair. No leaks, no detached engine part etc.. To make the long story short, the trooper is now ready for sale and im very interested in buying it. Can anybody please give me a check list on what to check first on the engine to ensure that I can still have my money's worth on it? Worst case scenario repair estimates also would be very much appreciated so I can adjust my offer to buy accordingly. Thanks a bunch!

why did they dismantle the ignitions system just to tow the trooper?
i think you have to bring a good trusted mechanic and inspect the car. ask mo sa mechanic lahat ng posibleng papalitan. hth

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu_Trooper

second paragrah said that isuzu discontinued export.... then last paragraph said only philippines sold troopers until 2005, only available with the problematic 4jx1.

A family friend of us shares disappointment with you about the Isuzu luxury vehicles. The defect in their brand new, one month old Isuzu Alterra almost cost the life of his family aboard the vehicle when something malfunctioned and the Alterra run uncontrollably fast without stepping on the accelarator pedal causing the Alterra to hit a concrete fence and turned-turtle. I saw the pictures of the severely damaged Alterra, it had a hard frontal impact, wasak talaga!! but the airbags system did not work. I also heard of other frustrations and dissappointment about the Alterra, from defective computer box to sudden display of check engine. I was about to buy also an alterra, now ayoko na!!

I bought a 2003 model “IZUZU TROOPER” from GENCARS MAKATI and have been CONSISTENTLY FOLLOWING THE REQUIRED SERVICE SCHEDULES by ISUZU. My unit has been religiously maintained with their service center and I have NEVER MISSED A SERVICE SCHEDULE. I would also comment that despite their high cost of having my unit serviced by their service center, I decided to have my unit serviced by them to prevent any major problems which may result to engine malfunction. The cost and price of reliability!!! going home from baguio with your family sleeping and knowing that you will reach home safely!!! price of reliability!

In middle of 2006, a defective part was found to cause a major problem in my unit and this was REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. This part was identified as “oil-water control valve”. The cost of the defective part was made know to me in the amount of P70,000 and was replaced free of charge after investigation that IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PART COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. However THE AMOUNT OF TIME LOST AND DISCOMFORT CANNOT BE COMPENSATED.

I had my unit again in their service center for the 80,000 regular maintenance and paid a total of more than P20,000 three weeks ago.

I am at a loss for words to inform you that after three weeks my unit is AGAIN DEFECTIVE. A tow truck was used to bring the unit back to their service center on a late Saturday night. To make matters worst, IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS IT WAS BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR. The same part is defective. THE MALFUNCTION CAUSED WATER TO CROSS OVER TO THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD AND LIKEWISE OIL TO THE RADIATOR. The brand new “oil-water valve” which was REPLACED LAST MIDDLE OF THE YEAR IS DEFECTIVE AGAIN and this caused me IMMEASURABLE DISCOMFORT.

To make matters worst, I was informed that the repair of my unit will over P150,000. I paid good money for my unit and likewise for the required service from your company. I may have made the mistake of buying the unit. It is ONLY THE HANDS OF THEIR SERVICE TECHNICIANS AND PARTS USED BY THEIR SERVICE CENTER that touched my unit.

To summarize my complaint, I bought a brand new 2003 Isuzu Trooper. This unit is regularly serviced and maintained by Isuzu dealer, Gencar Motors, and a major part as found to be defective which resulted to damage to the engine and requires repair cost amounting to over P150,000. This is definitely a product that has a major defect. How could a brand new car, serviced by its own service center, have a major damage to the injector twice in over four months?

the technical report showed that there was a defect in the injector seal that caused the water to cross over to the cylinder head! DAMN!

please email me if experience the same problem and get ISUZU recalled back to factory and off the road. DAMN hindi mura ang P1.7Million!!!!!

True, but since its for free, I get better performance and I happen to have time... Why not? Oh, and when we went there we found out that they don't replace injectors for free anymore...

Good morning Mr. Chua,

My name is Jay de Vera and I’ve recently come across an old post of yours in the Tsikot Forum about the problem you had with your 2003 trooper. I’ve recently purchased a second hand trooper November of last year and 2 months after I had to take it to Isuzu Pasig for PMS and they had me replace 3 components, a throttle positioning sensor, an oil pressure sensor and an Oil pressure valve. I asked if my injectors had a problem, they said that it didn’t. Until last week! I noticed a decrease in power and after returning it to Isuzu Pasig they said that the Oil and Coolant are mixing and that my Cylinder head needs to be replaced. Estimate is at 200K just for the head! That was when I saw your post and am now finding a way to solve my problem. I hope you could extend your experience on this matter to help a fellow victim. Thank you.

good day sir i know someone who does oil and coolant mixing, coolant and diesel fuel mixing all they have done is replace the oring of the injector sleeve... injector sleeve has two oring upper and lower if i remember correctly lower oring prevents mixing of water and fuel while the upper prevents mixing of oil and coolant..worse case scenario is replace the injector sleeve...but then again there are still conditions that the head is really blown or has a leak it is when the injector sleeve is removed and by seeing the inside of the head if there is any form of rust/cavitation then its time to replace the head...the mechanic is from pampanga sir...pm me sir if you are interested...

by the way the oring deterioration (or worst case head with cavitaion/rust)is most often associated with not replacing coolant or by not even using coolant...

Good Evng. I have an 2003 Isuzu Trooper 4jx1 engine local edition

4) how will you know na hindi bagay ung atf na ginamit mo?

thank you

^^^

1. try to check the upper and lower suspension bushing and also the balljoints...
2. it sounds transmision problem...pati yung pagrattle more than 70-80kph ang takbo may be asociated with the transmision..
3. try mo magpalinis ng ac...it will cost you around 2500-3000
