not sure kung sa old hilander is really Vic C503, been using VIC C512 kasi. Kasukat nung OEM filters when I used to have my unit serviced sa casa.
The VIC FC208A is just about right. Meron kasi minsan binigay sakin na VIC oil filter na para daw sa Hilander, not sure kung C503 yun pero mas malaki sobra compared to the C512. Best if you check other hilanders. worst that can happen naman siguro is that you'll be a tinie bit short of oil if you put a slightly larger oil filter

In theory, hilander and Crosswind can interchange filters (non low-charged turbo) since both are 4JA1 engines. Again, 4JA1 not the 4JA1-L (used by Crosswind A/T variants '01~06)

October 17th, 2009 04:44 AM #5503 ang oil filter. yan lng ata ang may nakasulat 4JA1 na nakasulat sa box. 512 canister is small. size of can matters kc if filtering efficiency is constant, a bigger canister casing would have a longer filter element thus better filtering flow. if I were you, i'll stay away from replacements esp if newer car mo. based on study done, damage to engine is done by 5 micron particles. 10 microns particles are no problem coz most replacement filter out 88-90% of them. duon sa 5, mga 10-15% lng.
only way to know effeciency and flow is to cut out canister of oil filter to find out the design( length of filter element, no. of pleets- more than usual will filter better at expense of filtering flow, type of filter element- plant cellulose and materials used for by-pass valve
long story short, only recommendable filter based on test is Amsoil wc is only available in US. not even Bosch brand is sufficient
most replacement don't filter good and flow is restricted so malamng oil circulated bypasses filtering material ie ikot lng dumi oil

beg to disagree pre, when I changed my oil and fuel filters, I put the ORIGINAL ISUZU oil filter and fuel filter side-by-side with the VIC C512 and VIC FC208A filter. And yung Vic C512 also has the 4JA1 engine listed on the box. Yes C512 is smaller, than the C503. anyway, di lang VIC C512 ang equivalent ng Isuzu original oil filters, meron din ang Bosch and Ginza. But I've used VIC for the past 6 years and have had no problems with it so dun ako. I just change oil regularly to make sure using either 15w-40 or 20W-40 castrol or caltex diesel engine oil.
