October 21st, 2009 05:33 PM #13Ideally we should be using OEM filters or parts. but its too expensive and impractical. if you change oil at regularly meaning at 5000km, its ok to use vic or bosch.
on my part even for break shoe and pads i'd like to use OEM but you can just see the price difference. in terms of quality OEM is more durable but i think branded parts are good enough considering the price.

December 28th, 2009 03:59 AM #14No way really of knowing if replacement filter is good or ok. Di mo masabi na ok or good dahil di ng li leak sa seat or canister don't break. Ganito yun, if you're using OEM filter and Vic filter on 2 similar (condition) cars and both are driven the same number of mileage in say 10 yrs and both constantly driven the same way, if you found out that, using both filter under identical conditions, both engines can run for 10 yrs before needing overhaul only then can you conclude na ok din replacement...isip isep!
Factors that say filter is efficient: filtering efficiency(micron particles filtered), filtering flow(rate) are what makes one brand above the rest. That is the reason why some have to change oil every 3-4 months and others can have it at 6 months based on oil condition (under identical usage)
