Finally, I get to take pictures of our Trooper here in Bacolod City. I'm still here on vacation before I fly back to Manila on Sunday, April 27.

So, to start things off, here's a picture of the new set of magwheels and tires we installed a few days ago. Its an 18in x 9in set, titanium finish mated to 285/60 Grandtrek AT2 tires. The front torsion bars are not yet cranked, thus it appears lower compared to the rear part (OME springs installed already).

More pictures of the mags including the installation process could be viewed at this link: http://www.pbase.com/wiretaptrooper/troopermags

We changed the rear stock coilsprings to Old Man EMU just this afternoon. An additional 1-2 inch lift was added to the rear suspension. Pictures could be viewed at this link: http://www.pbase.com/wiretaptrooper/coils

In a few hours, I'll be cranking the front torsion bars to compensate for the rear lift together with a wheel realignment since the shift from 16 to 18 inch wheels has caused a road bias (expected)towards the left. I'll be installing also rear bumper brake and turn signal lights similar to those found in the 4x4 version bumper. Will post pictures of all of these as well later.

    That's it for now...

wiretap: nice setup ganun lang pala ka dali palitan yung coil spring... 8O. review naman with regards the riding comfort also how much does it cost?

I plan to change mine soon but am still deciding which to choose i want the ride to be soft not stiff... balita ko kasi if u changed coil springs the ride will be stiff... correct me if i am wrong.

    thanks,

Hi guys! Sorry for the late reply. Been very busy yesterday helping out with my Dad's convention here in Bacolod. Midyear convention ng Phil. Orthopedic Association and his chapter is hosting it here. Lahat ng orthopedic surgeons from all over the country are here and you can just imagine the logistics it needs.

Anyway, inspite of it all, I was able to have our trooper realigned yesterday and the front torsion bars cranked to compensate for the rear suspension lift because of the OME springs. I had also some rear bumperlights installed similar to the OEM bumperlights of the Trooper 4x4 version. I'll be posting the links and pics on a different thread para di masyado gulo...

macky: Thanks! Pero your CRV picture with the mud tires is still the bomb!

Karding: Thanks! Wagon pala yung Subaru mo? Galing!

mdpo: Riding improvement improved significantly especially after cranking the front torsion bars. I wouldn't use the word "stiff". The more appropriate term would be "firm". As you can see in pics I posted of the OME springs, progressive yung no. of turns niya. That means that as the load increases, the springs tend to compensate for the load added and thus maintain peak performance. Because of the convention here, I end up being the utility guy for my Dad which means I ferry around his guests in the Trooper. Yesterday, I was able to load it up with 4 adults in the middle seats and another 3 at the back. I observed that the rear suspension did no sag as compared to my experience with the OEM springs when I loaded up the truck before with a similar configuration. I cannot comment much about the ride because I've only driven the Trooper a couple of days with the stock setup before we changed it so my observations as to the ride improvement may be inaccurate. One thing I noticed is the "firm" front suspension. There is a particular curve here in our city that I hit at about 80kph to test my suspension setups. Dati before the crank, the troopers nose dips to the left talaga when negotiating it. Pero last night, I tried that same curve again. Aba, wala nang dip and nose dive! Parang vitara ko na firm ang grip ng suspension. It gives a more confident feedback as compared to before. Now i'm happy and so is my dad!

icecold: Hehehe! Sure! Don't hesitate to ask me any questions that you may have.

kimpoy: Of course Vitara forever pa ako! 4x2 lang kasi ang trooper eh. Pero if it were a 4x4, that would be a different story! hehehehe...

fierari: Thanks! You live within the area too? Or dumadaan ka lang sa Dapitan. Yup, sa harap lang ako nagpapark.

    Frankdreblin: Thanks!

chieffy: Ron! Thanks! Undercoating ko sa monday ha! See you!

odell: Pina-color yellow ko lang yung OEM shocks ko! Hehehe! Just kidding . The yellow shocks you see are the Old Man EMU shocks. Yellow kasi ang flagship color ng OLD MAN. Built tough in Australia!

gjtech: The 2 rear OME coilsprings for the Trooper cost us P9000. For the Vitara, a full set of 4 OME coilsprings and 4 OME shocks would cost you P38,500. This is the setup I have in my Vitara

jimbob: My dad got it for P61,000 for the magwheels and Grandtrek AT2 tires. Original price was P81,000 pero we traded in the OEM rims and the former Grandtrek AT2 tires also so minus P20,000. Yup, DTM SUV sports and brand ng rims. Made in Japan

kiper: Thanks! Punta ka dito Bacolod, pa drive ko sayo!

hybrid: Thanks! Yup, vitara pa rin ako. Hehehe...now you know the reason why I was asking if you could source those forward facing seats. Let me know if you could get one ha. My dad is really interested.

Ungas/Glennster: Hehehe! Oo, may 18inch na kayo! Bagay yan sa rides ninyo

pinoy99: Thanks! The rims are 18x9in. Can you teach me how do I get the offset measurement?

OTEP the man! Di namin pinalift sadya. If you can see sa picture of the OEM coil and the OME coil side by side, pareho ang height. Pero less compressible ang OME thats why may lift effect.
