February 26th, 2015 10:42 PM #2051*bugoys: I still haven't had my truck checked. Pero based from the past, most likely tensioner un. If not, it might be the timing chain.
Ung sa tensioner wala silang pinalitan coz when they changed the oil, nawala ung tunog. Ung sa timing chain assembly, nasa 18k+ ata un if my memory serves me right, nung pinalitan. I don't have any idea on that tensioner bearing.
Basta ang tunog niya is mag start siya na parang garalgal then swishing and ung sound na, I don't know how to fully explain it pero if you pedal a bike and you free wheel it then pedal backwards, parang ganon ung tunog. Wala namang difference sa takbo pero naririnig mo un.
Ganyan talaga pag nagkaka edad ang vehicle pero ang maganda naman sa truck natin, or my truck for that matter, up to this day wala padin siyang binibigay na sakit ng ulo sa akin. Wala ngang nasisira, well except doon sa tumutunog na un.hehe
About a couple of weeks ago, umakyat ang FC reading ko to 10.7 kms/liter. FT method was 12+, close to 13. Kaso nung nag Valentine's day and nag umpisang topakin ang DPWH & Maynilad at nagsira ng mga daan na maayos naman at makinis while causing bottleneck everywhere, nasa 10.4 kms/liter nalang. Hindi ko pa na FT method kasi nagpa gas up na ako before pa maubos when I heard that fuel prices will go up.
*tisoy555: Glad to know that you are enjoying your truck. For sure mas mataas pa yan sa 12.5 kms/liter if you do the FT method. Sarap ng ganyang reading. I remember when my Dmax was still new. 1k+ kms in 1 full tank. Pero hindi ko na naulit.hehe

February 27th, 2015 12:55 PM #2052I see. Medyo complicated pala. I thought yung simpleng tensioner assembly lang. Heheheh. I hope ma sort out yung sa truck mo.
Btw, we ended up getting another dmax! Heheheh. Still practicality trumphs.
Test driven the NP300 4x2, it was over all a very nice truck, ride is better compared nga sa leaf spring, but the "bareness" of the interior was a bit downside (no biggie though), plus its third brake lamp is curved on the roof and the antenna is on a fixed? position on the rear of the roof. Major problem for us, since we put steel pipes, bars on the roof, thus making it very prone to damage. Power is way better than dmax.
Test driven the Hilux 3.0 as well, now this one is at par with the dmax in interior features, sans the leather seats, and driver powered seat. One thing that pushed me to the dmax closer was the ride. May katagtagan nga compared sa dmax natin, and I worry that if my parents will ride or drive it, they'd feel stressed due to harshness of the ride. But the nvh is better compared to the dmax. Especially when closing the doors, there's a slight cabin noise, whereas sa dmax, medyo mas malakas, kumbaga sa babae, Heart E. is Hilux and Marian R. is Dmax, you get my point (again no biggie). Power is on a different level. But then again, we'd be getting just the 2.5 not the 3.0 though as per paper, torque is the same.
As they say, there's no replacement for displacement, kaya mas gusto ng father ko na 3.0 dmax kesa sa 2.5 ng hilux, even if the latter has more torque. Ayaw naman nya ng 3.0 4x4 na hilux, kasi hinde naman namin magagamit yung feature na yun. Plus mas mahal nga. Heheheh
So ayun, another dmax sa family namin.

Very nice, sir bugoys. Now you have another Dmax is your stable. You know what is the best for you, so you followed your heart. Baka mas mahal mo na ang bago mong kabayo.hehe
Nasa dealer yung Dmax ko for 120k PMS.
Hindi naman complicated ung problem na un or maybe because I have been there before and I know that despite that, the truck is still very able to perform and it will not fail me wherever and whenever. In fact January ko pa ata narinig un and some 2k+ kms after, ngayon ko lang dinala kasi isinabay ko sa PMS. Nasa 121k+ kms na siya ngayon. Kung hindi lang ung PMS, hindi ko pa idadala.hehe
Im gonna update kung ano ang nag cause but as per the mechanic who has heard it before, he said baka nag loose ung tensioner. We'll see...

March 4th, 2015 07:01 PM #2054Thanks. Though hinde pa namin nakukuha sa dealer, wala pang oras eh.
Ours has this slight vibration everytime it hits 2100 rpm, past that hinde na masyado ramdam. Is't the turbo kaya? Or just plain engine support or just the oil? Can't remember I had that issue before cleaning the egr, if not, baka sa pagkakalinins ko ng egr, last move was that procedure. Hahahah. Tsk. I'll have it check sa suking auto shop or sa casa, when schedule permits. Hinde kasi masyado gamitin lately ung truck, panay ang commute ko, kakatamad kasi mag drive.

Paanong vibration when it hits 2.1k rpm? Bigla nalang siyang magba vibrate? Baka it has something to do the the timing gear or chains too kasi sa tingin ko kaya mas ramdam ang vibration sa Dmax, even the clatter sound, is because of those. I don't think it's turbo kasi pag turbo siya, it would go into a limp mode and uusok ng husto kasi hindi na maka takbo ang truck mo. Mas possible pa na injectors (ouch!).hehe Sa EGR naman, I don't see any connection on how it can make it vibrate. It's more of a restricted acceleration feel when the valve gets clogged but at that point, the CEL would lit up.

March 6th, 2015 11:36 PM #2056Actually, its not more of a vibration, its kind of rattle inside the cabin, I can feel the steering column/wheel rattle a little when it pass by 2100rpm. Maybe its due to higher rpm na kaya nag rarattle, I don't know. Or baka engine support. Ka oc-han ko lang kasi eh. Heheheh.

March 7th, 2015 10:05 AM #2057I'd be damned, sir.
Kakakuha ko lang ng Dmax ko from its 120k PMS. Nawala naman ung sound and wala naman silang ginawa other than the usual stuff like change oil, filter, fuel filter, transmission oil, etc. Less than 13k ang inabot.
But after reading your post, nahawa ata ako.hehe Napansin ko medyo mas malakas ang vibration or rattle niya after ng service. Ipapa check ko nga sa Monday at baka engine support. Sana hindi something pricey ang sira like those tranny and injectors.
Pero ung akin hindi cruising speed. It's more on low speed/low rpm. Let's say when I reverse, the rattle is more than the usual instead of a smooth movement. Another is when deceleration say from 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and from the there to 1st, I could hear it rattle, even if I put it in neutral and mawawala lang siya once the vehicle has come to a full stop. If from 1st to 2nd to 3rd and so on, hindi naman siya nagra rattle. Tuwing deceleration lang.

March 8th, 2015 11:58 PM #2060Yes, if you are the one using the vehicle, alam mo agad pag may mga ibang tunog.
Brought the truck to the dealer last Sat kasi iba talaga ung rattle na naririnig ko. Good thing the mechanic whom I always call in that dealer heard it when he did the test drive. Kasi I don't know how I will explain it kung paano lumalabas. Pati siya puzzled kung saan exactly so he said that I should leave it there on Mon so he can further check kung saan and paano lumalabas ung sound.
Initially he thought the release bearing. Then after the test drive and narinig niya, akala niya ung cover ng engine. Then he checked for loose screws and the grille, meron pa siyang inaalog sa ilalim. So talagang puzzled na siya kung saan nanggagaling ung sound.
Hopefully it's not something pricey. Haay gastos ulit.hehe If there is any consolation, more than 1 yr naman ata siyang PMS lang ang pinaka gastos kasi walang nasisira.
Probably looks like a Coke sakto. Yes, where did you buy it?
