What was supposed to be a simple bulb replacement turned out to a be financial burden as they also replaced the EGR. It's a 2010 dmax with 56k mileage.
Did you get the "old" EGR valve given to you?

The valve can be cleaned and kept as a spare for future use.

I understand that the Casa has to think about warranty on the repair and the cost efficiency of replacing the valve with a new one rather than a cleaning/repair operation. However, from your point of view, please consider an alternate solution next time that the symptoms reappear...and they will.

    Ciao!

you can avoid the same incident from happening again and spare you of the financial burden again by blanking your EGR valve, no check engine and your engine will be more responsive. the valve will no longer accumulate dirt or soot.

As to the EGR, kung Dec 2010 mo nabili ung Dmax mo, dapat pasok pa sa warranty. But I doubt kung io honor nila yan. And always get a 2nd opinion pag magpapa palit ng parts sa engine. Ganyan din ako noon when my EGR failed. Sabi nila palitan daw; 20k something, parts and labor. Nalaman ko na pwede naman palang linisin. Pinalinis ko nalang. Wala pang 5k sa CDC. Up to now wala ng problems. May mga members dito like sir GS LOVER, he can help you solve your EGR problem.

Changed my EGR to a 2010 issue for FREE! Yehey!!!! Haha!

Was given the tip by the friendly service advisors in Isuzu before my warranty expired, and this went together with my SCV (wink!) ;)
....My mistake, however, i never took hold of the old EGR had i known it can be cleansed ahihi....

    Cheers!

I doubt that they will give it to you, sir. First is you got it for free, next is they know that they can clean it, but they will tell the customer that replacing it is the only solution, so for sure all they will do is clean it and sell it again.hehe

YUP chief, tiktikin nila segunda mano if they so choose. That's how they roll, no hurt feelings

....Anyway i gained a two new ones, where one of them is from an above 2010 model, Euro 2 fuel compliant.... Didn't spend PhP5k for cleaning hehe (wink!) ;)

Also, i saw one hp and torque here long time ago re the old D-max by the chassis dyno (wheel hp) before & after a DPChip diesel EFi kit was installed (i believe that was a record by Berrima Diesel)....
....At the wheels in stock-trim, the 4x2 manual-transmission D-max tested has a bit lesser hp compared to its paper spec, but it produces more torque, say 315 Nm torque than the paper-spec....

Take note that this was recorded from the wheels NOT even an engine-mounted dyno reading and that it (should) loss power from the engine transferred through the tranny and going down to the wheels due to friction coefficient blah blah ahihi, so they say ---- meaning it may show lesser torque at the wheels by chassis dyno.... Moreover, this was done in 3rd gear where the ratio is 1.0 : 1.0 between the 3rd-gear and the final gear ratio, or vice-versa.... The peak torque from 1400-3400 rpm at the wheels is slightly downtrend (not flat as shown in the paper) but it's still arguably broad than the other pickup tested, whereas the "other" pickup with VGT showed quite a peaky downtrend torque along the rev-range, almost similar to its paper-spec along the rev-range....

Let's hope that there'll be a chassis-dyno run by the same company (Berrima Diesel) into the near future to see how much this "mala-new" 4JJ1-TC really performs reckoned from the wheel....

Ang dami pang untapped power from our stock engine, kaya tap lang natin.....

try to see the intercooler in person if you have time.
The design is different but the surface area (or whatever is the term) might still be the same.

    5) mas lumaki yon air filter at intercooler.

    Hi guys/fellow Dmax owners,

Because the tech said it needs to be replaced na daw since after linisin ganun pa din, engine icon is still lit and according to the scanner its the only problem. I just want to be sure lang po before buying an expensive part. And I really have no idea since first time magka major problem after 3 years. I really enjoy our Dmax compare sa ibang diesel engines(i.e. mitsu ), i hope replacing the EGR is not the only solution.

Hope you guys can help/educate me, share your thoughts and advice. Btw mine is an LS 4x2 3.0DDI 2010 from Las Pinas
    Many thanks in advance!

    *UPDATE
I read that pwede daw ipablock? please educate me on this and where can i get this done?
Salamat po. Btw, I had mine cleaned with a carb cleaner in a shell service center. I dont know if thats enough or if there is a thorough way of cleaning it?

you dont have to buy that expensive egr valve again, khit linisin mo yon egr valve pero hndi mo iparereset yon ecu mo, nakalit pa rin yon check engine mo kc parang miskol yan sa celfone mo na kailangan mong iaccess para mawala. after cleaning the egr, you can have it blank para hndi na kailangan pang ipalinis uli.

Same thing with the SCV or Suction Control Valve.

My truck has already replaced its SCV before. After I had the SCV replaced, umilaw ulit then EGR naman. Inabot ng more than 1 yr ung waiting time ko para palitan ung EGR kasi hindi na dumating dating ung part na yan sa Isuzu Commonwealth. Imagine 1 yr na naka lit ang CEL sa dash ko pero awa ng Diyos, my truck never failed me kasi kung saan saan ko siya dinala and never siyang tumirik. Un lang, nakaka irita na naka lit sa dash and ung tunog ng makina, medyo grabe ang rattle and ung performance niya ay medyo mabigat.

While I was browsing in Tsikot, naisipan kong mag search about EGR and I saw na pwede palang linisin. Imagine kung pinalitan ko siya, more than 19k+ din yun. I inquired in Central Diesel and nasa 4k+ lang. So dinala ko and after 1 day, ayos na. Ang ganda ulit ng performance.

If I were you, dalhin mo sa Central Diesel and let them diagnose the problem.

As to blocking/blanking, yes pwedeng iblank ang EGR and may mga topics na yan dito. Pls use the search function of the website to find those topics. There are also members who offer blanking of EGR. Try to contact sir GS LOVER if you wanna know more.

    Thank you sir GS.

Reading your reply i already had mine cleaned from the looks of it sobrang luminis naman, problem is after ierase sa scanner yung icon when I turn it off and on again lalabas ulit. I dont know kung pano totally tangalin or like you guys say "i-blank"

And im not sure kung may effect sha sa hatak and fuel consumption, cause according to the tech meron daw hanggat may check engine.

To be fair parang meron nga sa hatak.
Looking forward to your help sir GS/guys. Thanks!

Hi sir, the air filter looks exactly like the box-air filter that the previous "hood-scoop" D-max was using. This looks like also the one for the new D-max.... Our old D-max'es use the old-style cylinder one hehe

Kung mas malaki ang intercooler (like the way you saw it chief, so i take it that you meant increased surface area) at naka-locate sa front grille, hindi na "pupot" yan sa ere hehe, unlike the one with smaller surface area and the top-mount like that of the Hilux and the previous "hood-scoop" D-max.

In tropical countries like ours especially those with high humidity air, mas favourable ang sasakyang may intercooler. Ang high humidity air chief mas mainit ang effect (mas mataas ang binibigay na apparent temperature) kaysa sa dry air even when the two have the same temperature level. The climate in Pinas is high temp and high humidity....

    Cheers!

Maraming salamat sa info Sir d_mac.. I have test drive the 2014 dmax and the fuel consumption I got is around 13kpl combination of city and highway driving. I think the fc would still improve considering the truck still less than 5000km..

As Australia's No. 1 offroad rider, this kid surely knows which pickup is the best in Oz and under what brand it belongs to.... Simply the 2009, 2010 and 2013 Australian 4WD Action Pickup of the years - the Isuzu D-max ;)

    ....See 0.47 seconds and up....

....Just sharing my views as a D-max and a Yamaha 2-stroke dirt bike enthisiast ;)

    Cheers!

WOW! Ang tipid boss Jraf_zams2 for a new pickup! Mag-i improve pa yan much better pag tagal-tagal sigurado. i observed my 3.0 Ddi-iTEQ to be consuming better by 30,000 km and up.... i sit now at 87,000 kms odo on the 2008; seldom it's being used by the wifey though and i'm always away overseas. She likes her own ride than my pickup hehe ;)

Cheers and thanks sa info chief!

So far ok naman yon suspension niya sir d_mac. Di siya kasing alog ng Hilux. May be I can compare it with strada. Pero compare to SUV the truck still a truck. Tsaka maganda yon handling niya in terms sa curves. By the way, I tested the AT dmax.
