straight line stopping? it is the EBD that primarily worked, not the ABS.

to test your ABS, run through the same terrain, slam on the brakes while steering your vehicle.

i think the ABS also did its job because without it the tires on the rough road would have locked due to the fact that they were on low traction surface than the tires on the asphalt.

kurt, ok naman. hindi p ako nakasakay sa fuego while cruising e. pero im sure mas tahimik ang dmax. di hamak na mas malakas ang makina e. on the outside hindi ko rin sure kasi, ako yung nagda-drive e. peoro pag nasa loob, at asphalt tahimik siya, maingay pa nga yung honda civic 96.ma-ugong b. =)

Isuzu Launches 2005 D-MAX

The Pickup Wars are just beginning. A day after Toyota launched its all-new Hilux, Isuzu Philippines Corporation launched the 2005 version of its D-MAX pickup.

A best-seller in its category, with a record-breaking 100,000 unit sales in its first year, the D-MAX soldiers on with its formidable 3.0 liter direct injection turbodiesel engine with intercooler. Power is still at 130 hp and torque at 280 Nm (manual transmission) / 294 Nm (automatic).

New features for 2005 are upgrades to the audio system and instrument panel trim. The 4x4 now comes with a bed-mounted rollbar and drop-in bedliner. The 2005 D-MAX 4.2 is priced at PHP960,000 (MT) and PHP1,015,000 (AT). The 4x4 MT goes for PHP1,330,000 and the AT is at PHP1,390,000.

apparently, it was time that toyota have to revamp the aging model which was nearly 10 years already. also it was good that they introduced a powerful engine to rival the isuzu's engine. good thing though, they have the 2nd gen common rail fuel injection.

test drove this pick up yesterday at the fort along with mbt, carlocaraddict & glntvr.

the isuzu representative gave us an info that the 4x2 and the 4x4 variants are differentiated only by the axle and the transmission. inside, still the same. btw we drove the 4x4 on a road track so we didnt get a chance to test its off road capabilities.

carlo first, then me, then mbt, then glntvr.

when i engaged to first gear i was kinda surprised the pick up was still not moving even if i was releasing the clutch slightly. anyway so away we went. ride was floaty and not as bouncy as they said. credit goes to their new "flex ride" suspension improvement.

trademark of isuzu engines are creating bulletproof but amazingly loud diesel engines. you wouldn't want to be stuck with this on a long drive on nlex while running 3000 rpm. better bring ear plugs.

compared to the 2.5 crosswind and the previous 2.8 fuego.
a 3.0 tdic but non-crdi unit, the new engine is definitely better. more torque. kudos to isuzu for mounting the intercooler after the front bumper, thus feeding denser air into the engine.

also liked the standard HU which looked like a fortune. i think it also passed carlo's audio testing.

the isuzu representative also told us to test the abs. braking on a corner while steering (while going fast) true enough the abs really worked. the pick up stopped with no drama. credit also goes to the stock tires which i forgot what brand.

the turning radius is big. what pick-up doesn't have one anyway? but the steering is light enough for low speeds.

over-all, a worthy contender for the more flashy hilux, which according from my sources doesn't have abs. and..i haven't tested yet.

hahaha... really enjoyed testing this pick-up. Drawback lang talaga is the engine noise. Pero overall I think its worth the price you pay for it naman.

been asking this since day 1 of ownership, is the low fuel light of a dmax 4x2 2004 functional? i can see a light or lens for the low fuel light but i have not seen it light up.

on my last refueling, 72+ liters of diesel went into my tank (specs indicate a 76ltr tank) and yet the low fuel light indicator did not even glimmer.


PS: during the may 1 long weekend drive to iba,zambales via cabanatuan, mixed 85% hi-way driving, 15% urban/moderate traffic pace - my fuel consumption rate is about 11.9km/liter.

reading the innova thread, compared to a 2.5 turbo crdi; not bad for low tech "3.0 turbo diesel with intercooler". nearly a match.

it only lights up when there is less than 10 or is it 5? liters of diesel in your tank. but i don't suggest you try to test this while your far away from a gas station. you know what happens when diesel engines run out of fuel.

just want to inform all that both front shocks started leaking at 35000km. now claiming replacement under warranty. its now daw under assesment by isuzu phils.(dapat lang palitan nila coz on-road travel gawa ko) SA informed me it was a strage occurance since no other indication it was under rough handling and mostly daw rear shocks una sira. maybe because of the supposed load you can place on the pickup bed.

and it still drives straight and i hear no strange noises to indicate busted shocks.
