WOW! that is 26kms/l. impressive!
yup nasa nag dadrive talaga. we have proven that it is possible with patience. we just drove at 4o to 45 kph maintaining 1000 to 1200 rpm. naka aircon yan with max cool thermostat setting (sealed) and fan speed to #1. we almost reached pagudpud with only P1000 worth of diesel. anyway, it was fun!

Is this Manila to Pagudpud? How long did it take with that kind of speed (40 to 45 kph).Originally Posted by toyboxph

40-45 Kph? Hmmmm.........ilang "araw" bago kayo nakarating ng Pagudpud?![]()
Diko kaya yun. Madali akong mainip pati mga pasahero ko. "Are we there yet?"![]()
Just an added info; my agent told me that manual Alterra's consumption is roughly the same with Crosswind; 14-16kph/ltr, while the automatic version is fixed at 10kph/ltr dahil computer controlled daw yung fuel injectors.![]()
Psalm I think the saleman does not know the product he is selling. ask him why different ba engines ng manual at matic! computer controlled ang injectors ng matic sa manual ya mechanical! nakakainis.
If its a CRDi engine then the injectors are all electronically controlled. What the salesman must have meant is that the gear shifting in the automatic version is, as it should be, electronically controlled.Originally Posted by ARB
Well, I guess so too. Sensya na, wala akong alam sa matic.Originally Posted by bimboy_l

ah yah, i heard about that Isuzu event. Medyo patama pa nga yung ad nila sa Petron eh hehehe. Pero Manila to Pagudpod for 40-45kph? tagal yan ha.
manila up to saan maka abot yung P1000 worth diesel, our way was eastern luzon. counter clockwise, not via la union upwards. we left manila 1:40am we reached isabela around past 10am then stayed overnight pa in tuguegarao then proceeded towards pagudpud early next day kaya lang di na umabot. medyo ,mahirap yatang gawin 8 to 10 hrs to pagudpud even if you drive clockwise. almost 10 to 11 hrs na to laoag pa lang at high speed driving.
about the 80kph thing, up to 80kph ang speed to be still fuel efficient. pag lumampas na sa 80kph, the wind/aerodynamics will affect your efficiency na kaya mag dedecrease na efficiency mo. but it doesn't necessarily mean na yun ang most fuel efficient speed.
kung ginawa namin yung style petron at full tank, baka maka 2000+kms kami malamang, and that wouldn't be practical. medyo mahihirapan na sa logistics yun. mauubusan na ng hiway. and i believe nagpapatay sila ng aircon and engine as i have read sa mga blogs ng petron participants. kami, our aircons were sealed to the on position with max cool thermostat. we were only allowed to switch off engine during meal breaks and overnight stops.
I've read somewhere before that the most fuel efficient speed range is between 60-80kph. This is what some people call the "cruising range". Below 60kph you are wasting fuel pulling the weight of the vehicle. Above 60kph, up to 80kph, you can use the momentum plus the weight of the vehicle to push forward, so to speak. Above 80kph, as toyboxph stated, wind resistance begins to act against the force you exert in moving forward. Thus, you tend to burn more fuel to trying to break through the air that you're compressing in front of the vehicle.
*toyboxph: Kung dumaan kayo sa NLEX, malakas sa fuel at bawal tumakbo ng 40-45kph (speed limit range in NLEX is 60-100kph). Sa ilang provincial roads siguro, you wouldn't have a choice but go 40-45kph.![]()

Konting pasensya na lang.
Pero mukhang mga elderly lang ang nabibighani sa Alterra.

There's a new Alterra variant on display at some dealers.
