I test drove the Everest, Fortuner ,Captiva and Alterra recently ( within last two weeks ) The last was the Alterra bec I did not know this car exists until I happen to pass by the showroom at Pasong Tamo - After test driving it, the Alterra was the only car that made me smile - nice ride, comfortable features, sounds. AC i was sold even tho I didnt know at that time about fuel savings and engines yet. - excellent overall SUV - The salesperson at the branch was crappy tho, couldnt answer much.

The Fortuner Salesperson is the best among the bunch, he however admitted there is nothing he can do with the "tagtag" associated with the Fort ( strange comment coming from the salesman ) Captiva is also good, but its like driving a bigger CRV, I find the Everest a bit Tagtag too, but overall is good.

I plan to get one in the next couple of months - just one question. Could owners here tell me what is the fuel consumtion of the matic vs the manual? 10%?

    thanks
    cheers

Actually bro ganyan din ako sa pagpili ng SUV way back 2005.

My first vote goes to Fortuner for its looks but due to long queue I experienced that time, I have no choice but to look for other SUV’s in the market since I’m in a hurry that time. Then my options narrowed to 2 which were the Alterra and the Everest. Then I have driven both vehicles and was surprised about the ride of the Alterra. There’s a big price difference between the 2 but I didn’t hesitate in choosing the Alterra because of it’s overall performance.

Actually, what I needed that time is a 4x4 but the Alterra is only available in 4x2 back then. Then in the mid of 2006, I convinced my family in buying a Fortuner 4x4 since I really can’t stop looking at it for its beauty. Believe it or not, my excitement in having a Fortuner only lasted a month. Why? Because of the bouncy feel despite of having a spring set up on its rear suspension, Fuel consumption, aircon set up (takes long time to cool the cabin) etc…

My Alterra is almost 3 years already. I’m still enjoying this ride and have no plans of replacing it. Sulit na ko dito.

Nga pala bro regarding sa tanong mo. Sa akin ay A/T and ang FC ay 12km/l.

    Sorry at humaba na...

My neighbor just drove home his brandnew Alterra from Isuzu Manila! Harvest Gold, Single Tone with 5.1 SES... What a beauty! Looks very nice talaga when it's on the move.

He's the 4th person I know who's shifted to the Alterra from the Fortuner. He was originally #120+ in line for a Fortuner at Toyota Shaw. But, he couldn't take the long wait anymore. So, he got an Alterra... He's still waiting for the refund from Shaw of his P100K deposit.

The Alterra is really quiet for an Isuzu, thanks to that iTEQ commonrail diesel powerplant.

I could always tell that my nextdoor neighbor was arriving from home. I used to hear his Nissan Terrano and Nissan Patrol Safari approaching a block away. Now, I get startled when he honks his Alterra's horn to have his gate opened.

hmmm. post ko lang ang impression ko sa alterra. well, it has the aura of the dmax, the size (which is actually shorter), that same brute looks. the only thing that missing is the chrome grill, that gave it a cheap look having that gray grill.

the seat setting is lower than the dmax, which is more of a squatting position. inside the cabin, there is the air feeling. 2nd row seat is more than adequate both elbow and legroom. one thing i noticed is the ecu box is placed not in the cabin below the drivers' seat but inside the hood (correct me if i'm wrong).

the only downside is that the rear glass panel, distrupted the flowing lines.

but then, alterra is for the people who has acquired taste.

Because it is a DMAX hehehe Even the engine sounds like a DMAX well all isuzu engines sounds alike. Inside same everything except for the seats, a few buttons on the dash and those cup holders on the rear doors.

I'm just curious on the 5.1 SES where's the Sub? self amplified ba yun components?

sir, if my perception isn't altered yet i think it is neatly placed on the center console. the amplifier is located underneath the front passenger seat.

Hmm, just noticed. Walang back mirror ang mga Alterra dito unlike in Thailand where it comes as standard.
