Just spoke with Froilan Dytianquin, Marketing Services AVP of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation.

He confirms that yes, they will be introducing the Mitsubishi Montero Sport locally by January 2005. It will be a 5-seater SUV and powered by a 2.8 Intercooler Turbo Diesel (the same engine on the Pajero Fieldmaster).

Other specs include:

- Easy Select 4WD System
- 4-speed A/T (manual transmission will be available sometime in May)
- 16-inch wheels
- front and rear coil spring suspension
- ABS
- dual airbags

Price will be around the 1.5M range.

Uh, PhP1M? For around that price, I'm better off on a 4WD SUV with real off road capability and less expensive engine parts.

Ung bagong Montero Sport sa pagkakaalam ko hindi na full ladder chasis ang gamit. Katulad na ng sa mga RAV4 and CR-V..Ewan ko lang kung ung new version nga ang dadalhin dito, nabasa ko lang sa Car & Driver.

Yung Mitsubishi Endeavor sa U.S. ang hindi ladder frame. It rides on a modified Galant platform

The Montero Sport is a Mitsubishi Strada on a different body. That's why early models used a leaf spring in the back. It was only later evolved into a coil spring set up.

Better just have Isuzu bring in the Thai AM.

Oo nga mas matambok pwet nitong Adventure Master kesa yung Alterra na parang Japayuking gasgas na ang pwet.

Kaso yung Thai Rung (sp?) na gumagawa ng Adventure Master, hindi ata mahilig mag-export. Sila din gumawa nung Nissan Xciter na based sa Frontier. Parang Xterra na may 3rd row and powered by a Nissan Patrol ZD30 engine. Yun ang sayang!
