I'm planning to fix the car slowly kaya sobrang tuwa ko sa forum niyo. next project ko is replacing the busted tail lights L/R, repalcing the driver side door handle and tail gate arm. Nagtanong nako sa Walco and Jayson kaya this weekend papagawa ko na siya sa Banawe. Any suggestins for a decent and affordable car paint shop pala?![]()
Hi Habagat,
Yes, kung sira na yung sensor/floater na nasa loob ng fuel tank, it needs to be replaced. It not difficult to do that with a seasond mechanic. I saw one ( not fuego), being done and its quite simple. You need however, to have it dismantled first and check what part is damaged before you buy the replacement part. Fuego parts are easy to find.
The tank should be taken out first. Thats not the hard part tho. The next step is to remove some screws holding the floater mechanism inside the tank. The mechanism will be taken out from the tank for inspection or repair.
Hi Habagat,
I had mine replaced last saturday with my mechanic. The replacement unit cost only Php800. Tama sinabi ni Howee. Ganun nga procedure na ginawa. Matagal-tagal din gawin =P
*Howee maraming salamat for the info, now i know what to do more clearly...
*Emirage, pareho pala tayo ng problema & i'm glad you were able to fix yours & shared your experience. May i ask if this part that's being replaced have a part number or specific name if you ask for it at the hardware store? Thanks a lot...
*Habagat_88:
Sorry bro, I don't have the specific part number. Mali pa nga yun unang deliver kasi may wire for the light kapag "empty" (ndi ko pa nakitang gumana ilaw kc wla naman akong balak mgpaempty) yun tinanggal sa sasakyan ko, so we ask for the exact one. Hi fellow Fuegoers. Have an LS 4JA1 for the past 9 yrs. FC is 12.5-13.5 km/l city. Except for minor kinks like a misaligned driver's power window and misfiring intermittent wiper setting, I am happy with this very reliable pickup. Allmost 150k on the odometer with no major engine problems or repairs.
Used to load SeaOil since it was cheaper early last year but switched to Petron along Kamias in QC since their diesel gave me consistent mileage (read: calibrated pumps). Last month, had to load somewhere in Pasig Blvd. since my tank was almost empty. A few days later, I experienced engine lag running above 3000rpm. Below that it drives ok. While parked, revved the engine and it "drowned" above 3000rpm with thick white exhaust. The sedimentator light was lit. Proceeded to drain the feed pump and got about half cup of water! (clear with no oily feel or smell). After two "CPR" cycles, the engine normalized. Add one more gas station to my blacklist.
Problem is, after the last tankload from my favorite station and now at 1/4 gauge, the same loss of power is again happening above 3000rpm at any gear. Even after draining the feed pump, the sedimentator light stays "on". Guess something is still wrong with my fuel system.
Any ideas? Kudos to the NING site too. TY much sirs.
newbie po ako dito at maraming tanong, he he he. i have a 1998 fuego 4x4 i acquired last year with 130,000km. nasa 170,000 na after one year and the truck seems to perform better now than when i got it.
rims are original steels with 235 x 75 x15 radials i installed right after purchase. mukhang kailangan na palitan in 2 or 3 months or roughly 50,000km. normal lang ba ito for fuegos? i plan to buy 31x10.5x15 next time and still use the original rims. most of my driving is paved roads but i go to mountains for my weekend farming activities. kaya ba ng engine at walang problem sa clearances with this tire size? how about underchassis wear and tear?
my observed fuel economy is 12-14kpl, top speed of 130-140kph (the engine still pulls hard close to the redline) but comfortable hiway cruising is 80-110kph. beyond this, maingay na engine. can anything be done to reduce the noise intrusion? he he he
i also do not add any oil in between changes (every 5,000km). is this normal for isuzu engines or a sign that fuel is entering the oil pan? my old nissans and mazdas normally consumed about a half liter of oil with this kind of mileage on the engines.
i also observed that the thermometer gauge rises to only 1/4 to 1/3 in most driving conditions even going up mountain roads. is this the normal range for the isuzu. the nissans and mazdas i had in the past normally operated at 1/2.
the ball joints and tie rods are also scheduled for replacement next year. i had the front shocks replaced but i think i should have installed gas type at front heavy talaga itong fuego even with a camper shell on the bed. the rear shocks are still the originals. ano ba maganda ipalit para mag improve ang talbog pag wala karga sa likod? i have resorted to loading some plants or a sack or two of potting medium to keep the rear from bouncing around too much, he he he. my normal tire pressure is 26-30psi with my current set of tires.
thanks. haba na ito for a first post.
hi Im a happy owner of a 2001 4x4 fuego also. Hope there will be an eb of fuego owners here. If you guys need a mechanic we have one that can do home service.

Upland Farmer:
Expect that with the Fuego. It is one of the reasons why Isuzu is Called Diesel King. Except for the rather pronounced valve noise and not so tall suspension, it is one of the most, if not the most efficient trucks around. Not adding oil in between changes is good news-it means that you are not losing any oil through blow by gases or leaks. The low temperature is another sign of efficient running. I was able to run mine for around 40+ kilometers (highway) without a water pump and fan because the only place where the parts were available was in the next town. I just ran without the radiator cover and stopped whenever I could to refill the radiator with water.
Your fuel consumption is also within the same range.
For suspension mods/upgrade, I would suggest Old Man Emu. Please refer to the links below for your reference:

Thanks
thanks for the comments and links blaster. my fuego tends to wallow at hiway cruising speeds especially when there is not much load at the rear. i replaced the front shocks last year with fluid type but with minimal impact. will gas shocks at the front reduce this wallowing? i have to include the old man emu in my christmas wish list muna, ha ha ha. thanks again.
Good Day mga sirs
Salamat!
