    Guys,

During cold starts, say after about a few minutes, i turn my a/c...i'm about to leave, it's either very hard or i am not able to steer (left and right) at all! i have to turn the aircon off first before i can maneuver...and then once in motion, i can turn on the a/c but i hear the belts squeak/squeal until after a few minutes of driving or until temperature level reaches normal.

what can be causing this? the belt is new and have been tightened enough. at pag mainit na sha, ok na, no more squeaks. parang ang laki lang talaga ng load na kinakain ng aircon. i also notice that turning on the aircon while still cold also makes the battery volt meter go down to 12-13 and goes back up to 14 after about 30 secs. normal den po ba ito? could it be an alternator problem? or probably a steering pump issue?

    TIA!

Baka too tight ang mga belts? Would be strange if both your steering pump and AC had a problem at the same time. But it sounds like it's a belt issue.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

will a too-tightened belt cause it to squeak too just like a loose one would do? hmmm...parang tama lang kase i can still push it with my index finger (but not even a centimeter).

when u push the belt down with your index finger, it should go down abt 1 inch. 1 cm is too tight. the belt wil squeak if too tight.

Hmm strange din coz the main pulley that drives the power steering and aircon don't share the same ring... The inner ring of the crank pulley drives the critical pumps like water and steering, while the outer drives the alternator and AC.

Did you change ALL the belts or just the AC belt? Baka your PS belt is slipping. It can be the AC belt is too tight, or the compressor bearing is sticking.

*finchy -- no sir, d po ako nakahandbrake, as much as possible, iniiwasan ko mag turn ng wheels when stationary because i feel for my PS pump & engine. hahaha.

well...since i was having that problem for quite some time now, i had the chance to bring it to mang mario...even him didn't know what to look for..hehehe...we had the compressor already brought down, changed the compressor bearing kase nga medyo pumapalag kapag nag a/c at parang hirap umikot. in other words, comp. bearing is new. the only part that has not been changed is the alternator belt. do you think i should change it too? ok pa naman kase when i had it checked, actually, ok pa naman lahat ng belts pero just for the purpose of isolating the problem, i had the other 2 replaced first.

someone one from another isuzu forum said, "it's one of those isuzu things"...dunno if i should be relieved having known to have someone share the same problem. hehehe. oh well...
ano pa kaya ang pwedeng subukan? =)

    Beetols,

When was the last time you had your steering box checked and overhauled? Baka kailangan na silipin. PM mo si Afrasay since his cousin Ferdie is an expert there. Sa kanya ko rin pnaagawa steering box ko before.

just an update to this thread...

it was diagnosed that my PS pump is the culprit. it's currently leaking from the top right now, although i never had to add fluid to the reservoir. The high pitched sound comes from it as well. IS this something of immediate attention? I mean will it breakdown in a snap causing the vehicle to halt or i can just wait till the situation is aggravated?

Now, i do have 2 questions if i decide to have the pump taken down.

    1. Does it have a bearing or something that can be replaced and make it work again, plus replacing the seals/o-rings/repair kit? or in short, can the internals be repaired?

    2. am i better off looking for surplus? Because brand new ones will set me back around P20k+

    TIA

Exactly what happened to my LS pickup two months ago. The culprit? BELTS. I had all of them properly replaced, and voila! OK na.
