June 17th, 2016 04:39 AM #7936Sorry baka may namiss ako, si kohn184 ba ay naka full blank or slotted?
"Anyways fellas i am here to help out & answer any questions I can. I dont sell these plates for a living - its a hobby after seeing my intake completely clog up on my 4JJ1 about a year ago & figuring i should do something about it (something less than a $1500 intake clean & rebuild). I have used the money from selling plates to develop the full blank, with a full blank working I see my motor oil staying a lot cleaner. I have also used my knowledge to develop plates for other diesels & some petrols that my friends have.
EGR is a great idea - however in reality if it will kill my engine in just 100,000kms i am not a fan."
Anyways, i would suggest ihuli nyo to sa upgrades.. Mahaba habang inuman, este usapan na kasi pag tungkol sa egr... [emoji38]

June 17th, 2016 05:45 AM #7937Share ko lang mga muxers.. This is how our egr pipe looks like,
I am sure that our MuX here in ph do not have an egr cooler when we removed that pipe. i think the thermal insulation wrap is lame attempt to lower temp of air from our exhaust.
I have around 9k in my odometer when this was removed and you can see in the pic how it looks like inside. i do not want any of that going into my intake manifold,
I think that's where the big debate is sa AU, masyado extreme conditions nila in terms of driving offroad and even their weather, and it gets further complicated by an egr cooler and their sensors.
I have yet to see how the thais have discussed this but just by principle, i would agree with khon184 - EGR is a great idea, but if it will kill my engine in the long run, or even add cost to have my intake manifold decarbonized/cleaned.. I'd go with full blank.

EGR pipe of mux = EGR Cooler without the coolant passing through tubes. Our engines aren't that complicated.
The link isn't saying full blanking is bad. Mas safe lang ang slotted plates vs full blanks or MAF attachments.
Like I said, this isn't gospel truth, but I trust what more of them are doing (slotted blanking plates vs full blanking plates/MAF attachment)

this will not be debatable issue, because it will be still be at your own discretion whether to fully block the egr, no one is saying it is not correct
because it also depends on your driving conditions,
as for my own.. it is used as a family transport full city driving, cruisin around metro davao max 30kph,
and the last time i've been there, my nanay's speed at most 20kph, due to volume of traffic, till i drove it around central then eastern mindanao for break-in'
plausibly it will never experience a closed egr valve after that, it will always be partially or fully open,
i can't take any risks of CEL showin up, because nanay wouldnt know how to fix it, thats why i'll choose a slotted plate by the time i'll install mine.
since, you have already fully blocked the egr system
would you do a simple experiment by running it idle for 10-15mins?
because by that duration, we can confirm whether the ECU will indeed reopen the valve due to low volume of gases that comes from exhaust port?

Lets add a discussion/topic to the mix, regarding oil catch cans? To put a breather or not, i've seen a lot of post around TIP having a breather catch can. Or modified it to have a breather.
I dont see the point of it, if in any case i dont want the vapor, to go back to the manifold, i would just condemn the line from can to the manifold. And also whether i need the can itself, can i just put a breather directly to the pcv port?

someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
