It's a chip right? It's just a program or configuration (no mechanical/physical alterations tot he engine).

Would installing a dpchip/unichip etc.. degrades engine life and causes black smoke?

I guess in short what are the pros and cons?

    Thanks.
Because of cost cutting. Manufacturers tune the engines to accommodate wider tolerances (Fuel and environmental standards) and be able to distribute to more countries without any problems. YES chipping degrade engine life but not to the extent that the engine will die on you after a month or two. I know of people with chips for 100 thousands of kilometers without any problems. Chipping amplifies problems already in a vehicle. If it belches smoke on the onset, it will belch more smoke due to more fuel injected. HTH

    That's why dont buy now

    ---

There is also renewed interest sa subcompact suvs. Dami daw nagpareserve sa Trax and Juke. It's really not surprisijg, coz ang gasoline will be low cost until 2017. Tapos efficient and easy to maintsin pa mga suvcompacts like Ecosport et al
