Advise on 2nd Hand Trooper

Hi guys! I am planning to buy a 2nd hand trooper (2001-2003), do you think it's a good idea? I have been reading a lot of engine related problems kaya I am having second thoughts.

Would appreciate your advise.

sir yung bayaw ko sumakit ang ulo LALONG LALO NA ANG BULSA sa trooper.... with no apparent reason it died down on them, several times.... casa cant fixed the problem.... umabot na sa 350k ang ginastos nila ganun pa din.... hanggang sa hindi na nila ginamit at anytime namamatay ang engine tapos ayaw na mag start.... hangang sa binenta nalang nila.... ODO more or less 40k palang.... mismo ang casa nagsabi benta nalang daw.... it happened several years ago....

Try to check kung ano makina ng trooper na plano mong bilhin kasi if that's the 3.0 model medyo maging mabusisi ka sa engine history dahil yan yata yung madaming problema, yung 3.1 naman is yung mas ok kasi binase yata siya sa lumang 2.8 ng isuzu, although itong 3.1 yata is mas mahina compared sa 3.0.

nice reading this. i actually plan of buying a trooper, mura nalang kasi, around 350-400k ang price range. does it mean na mas ok ang surplus kaysa commercial unit? AFAIK, 3.0 is local while 3.1 is surplus. tama ba?

Mine is a pre-owned 2001 model, bought it last 2007, so far have'nt experience any major issue, except the normal ones (battery, tires)..I believe if you will consider owning one, you need to be careful in using engine oil, kse Besco lang talaga pwede,.

I use my trooper on a daily basis and my ODO now is 166K,... so far so good and still no plans of changing it

'02 trooper change timing belt at 161k km(tensioner was not replaced)...
besco oil ever since(oem filter main and secondary)....
change fuel filter every 10k(oem)....
change atf every 15k(caltex brand)...
change coolant every 20k(prestone concentrate)....
change air filter every 15k(oem)
now at 172k km running good (fingers cross)...
