Hi guys, I bought a second hand 98 trooper (lotus). I've had it for the last three weeks. Everything's ok. Performance is as expected, except having my EGR blanked (all it took were too bearings to block the suction from the EGR... thanks Denso), all is actually well.

I noticed that the stock lights I had was not too bright, so I had a couple of osrams 100w installed. It got better but still comparing to other cars, it was still not enough. I don't have front tints but it looks like my windshield is a little smoked so it doesn't help as well.

Anyway, I've thought of having an HID conversion. My friend told me that I won't benefit much from it since my headlights are frosted. Is it true? I'm sure there are a couple trooper owners out there that has converted theirs already. I would appreciate if you can share me your thoughts and experience.

Thanks sir for the reply. I've tried searching for a crystal version for our headlights or baka may nagrereplace ng glass niya kaya and convert them to a crystal.

In our case, pinalitan namin ng plasma xenon bulbs (yung bluish white) at ok ang naging resulta.

May problema bang ganoon pag ibang kulay ang ginamit aside from bluish white?

how about using relay and thicker wires? then use all weathers or osram night breaker or philips xtreme bulbs. stock watts but 80-90% more... then a general cleaning on the headlights too... improve mo na rin ground niya.

Sir, thanks for the pic. Mukhang masyadong glaring nga. Wala talagang improvement sa visibility sir?

    Sir starex_gold,

Sir, san niyo nabili yung wurth ninyo? Is is the same as my Osram na pang foglamps? Looks like, I'll have to invest on a fog lamps instead and have my bumper either chopped up to accomodate the fog lamps or get a new bumper altogether.

I might still get a set of fog lamps, I went to Goldrich din kanina and checked the hella comet 450. Ok naman ..wala lang ako mapaglagyan so I need to invest in a bullbar. That's the plan. pagdating ng suweldo yun na muna gagawin ko.

But now, ok naman na nga lights ko. A big improvement compared to what I had yesterday.

    Thanks for all your help.

    This is very imformative...
I was already comtemplating on buying a HID system for my 97 Trooper LS good thing I read this...
Anyways can you guys give me an estimate how much it would cost to get the headlight wirings rewired to accomodate the AWB 100/90?
And also what brand do you reco for the AWB? and the cost also?
Always nice getting first hand knowledge about these stuff...

    Excuse me also OT...
Can anyone recommend a good shop in the south that can clean the headlight lens for my Trooper? I live in Calamba, Laguna, maybe somewhere in Alabang would be ok...

    TIA...

98 Trooper on HID?
