too bad bout your spare tire. i think u can try at good gear if they have spare rims. by the way if u want to get 8ply tires get a michellin vanpix tire. i think they are the best tires, plus as long as u have visible treads they have life time waranty on the tires. unfortunately these tires are more expensive than dunlop tires. but because they are 8ply tires i guess it will last twice longer than other tires.i thnk they are great tires for starex. its the next set of tires im buying for my starex. i no a friend hu has them, and is very satisfied.

For tires, my vote goes to the Dunlop Le Mans RV series. You don't need truck tires for the Starex. Just check the sidewall of the tire you are considering buying. If the load index and speed rating are within the Starex's limits, they they're fine.

For wheels and tires, its hard to beat Tomas Mapua in Manila. Lots of stores to choose from.

i dnt want to argue wit u guys on wats the best tires for the starex, but from my experience the lemans rv 501, are great tires, but they wear out easily.the michellin vanpix tires are not dat hard. i think they are suited to the starex vans. the starex is pretty heavy van.

I've got the Dunlop Le Mans RV on my Starex. Tahimik at hindi "bumabarog" sa lubak. I don't know about tread wear since I usually change tires after 2 years on my Starex. Best set of tires I've had for my Starex.

    gregsp,
my starex is the 2.5 turbo intercooler model 2001. consumption is around 8-9 km/L ave. i think the crdi has better mileage compared to my engine. didn't have problems with my starex, just minor suspension repairs like bushings ang links which are normal wear and tear especially for a havy van. power and comfort is good for me. aircon is very good compared to other vans.

I noticed in my Starex manual that there are some models with build-in locks (OEM) for the spare tires...can anyone point me where I can buy a spare tire lock mechanism instead of a lock-chain. TIA

Is it easy to steal the spare tire of the Starex? What security measures can you guys recommend to prevent the theft of this van's spare tire?

Also, how heavy is the Starex anyway?

Thanks for the info. Wala din kasi yung vehicle weight nya sa HARI web site.

By the way, is that curb weight? If so, the Sedona is even heavier with a curb weight of 2,100 kg and I've been using Dunlop Le Mans tires on it with no problem for over 2 years. Just switched this year to Dunlop EC 201 tires because of the unavailability of the former in our province.
