TURN OVER OF DONATED PATROL CARS

The Government of the Republic of Korea through Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) implements and administers the project entitled "Enhancing the Criminal Investigation Capability of the Philippine National Police" which aims to promote a safer and more environment conducive to national development by improving the criminal investigation and security management capability of the police force.

The project, with a grant aid amounting to $6.6M USD, covers the provision of investigation vehicles consisting of 49 units Hyundai Elantra (marked sedan), 49 units Starex (marked van) and 32 units Starex (unmarked van).

On May 29, 2018, the ceremonial turnover and blessing of the 130 patrol cars was held at the QCPD Grandstand, Camp General Tomas Karingal, Quezon City.

Police Director General Oscar Albayalde, Chief, PNP received the said donation from Commissioner General Lee Chul-Sung of the Korean National Police Agency and His Excellency Dong-Man Han, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Philippines and was witnessed by USec Bernardo Florece, Jr., Undersecretary for Peace and Order of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The Special Features of the Hyundai Elantra and Starex Van include: LED Search Light, LED Warning Light, LED Warning Light Control Box with Microphone, Safety Screen, Dash Cam, Mobile Radio Case, Rear Wrapped Clean Seat, Rear Safety Film and Multi-Function Signal Bar.

The Hyundai Motor Company commits to provide excellent maintenance service to capacitate the PNP to carry out its mission to maintain peace and order while enjoying a safe and comfortable ride.

The said patrol cars will be distributed to the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Anti-Kidnapping Group, Anti-Cybercrime Group, NCRPO, and city police offices of Angeles, Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Davao and Baguio where Korean communities are established.
