Guys, a little help I just need to validate the information I collected from all the sources that I have called and asked.

So my Hyundai Accent of 5 years now has a steering problem. When I brought it to the Casa, sabi nila the MDPS needs to be replaced, kaya lang sobrang mahal like nasa 90K. So i sourced for external parts and services.

After a series of asking and searching kung san makakakuha ng parts, I ran across Goodgear who is offering a full steering column (wala nun MDPS lang, wala ata talagang ganun) for 30K which includes UPP, MDPS and Tilt. I asked for a picture of the part which they gladly gave me ,then I asked Casa back kung ito ba yun talaga, they said yes confirmed.

Then nagtanong-tanong ako sa mga Casa kung sino pwede maginstall, one Casa said pwede naman daw, labor fee lang - they would install, which includes wheel alignment and calibration. There's an additional fee if I opt na merong pang re-evaluation. but wala itong warranty

Yun Casa kung san ako nagpadiagnose, hindi daw sila nagkakabit. Kailangan daw sa kanila ko rin bibilhin yun part. With that amount, magddown na lang ako sa bagong auto.

    So my questions really are
1.) Tama ba yun part na bibilhin ko (for validation lang) - Steering Column
2.) Is it OK not to have the warranty for the labor?
3.) Am I already on the right path? Should i go with this na?
4.) Wala na bang kulang na steps na need ko pa gawin?

    Thanks in advanced.

you might contract a casa mechanic to install it in the privacy of your home, outside of office hours.
but i do not know what their work contracts say, whether they are allowed to do so or not.

    tilt!
meron bang tilt yung kotse mo?
if none, then the replacement is an improvement.

Ask Goodgear if Original Part or OEM Replacement Part (No Warranty)?
Meron Mechanic ang Goodgear for Installation (adjacent their store) baka bigyan ka ng warranty kahit Replacement Part yan?

Goodgear is a known seller of Hyundai parts. You said the casa confirmed that the part Goodgear is selling you is indeed the part. I suppose you can then proceed to a power steering specialist shop for installation. Labor will most likely not be much.

I have to search what MDPS is. Makes me happy our Innova has the old school hydraulic power steering. Simpler and easier to fix.

    I'm a Grab operator, 12cars, 7 of 12 Hyundai Accent Diesel.

    1) It's always good to validate part numbers online as previously suggested. Use your charm, get the casa part number.

    2) I don't know anyone who offers warranty on labor. Even if you find one, how would you know that the labor is faulty? In my experience, they always blame the part faulty, then you go back to your part seller, then the part seller will tell you to blame the mechanic. This is why casa charges so high, because they're the only ones who can offer you warranty on parts and labor only if you pay for both.

    3) You're on the right path, all paths have risks.

    4) The only remaining step I can recommend... Choose the risk you can live with.

I buy all my critical and expensive parts from Goodgear... Even casas buy from goodgear. (and yes, they sometimes sell full assembly parts only)

Labor? I have my 5-yr trusted mechanics... Who still and will make mistakes... Mistakes I can live with.

Just to share, my father told me that having a car is like having a child.

Good luck on your decision making.
