I get 10 km/liter with my 2006 Starex M/T, but that's around 85% highway driving (daily trip from Urdaneta to Tarlac). I have no idea about the mileage in just city driving conditions.

I kind of like the new Starex fascia. The old one just looked a little..normal.

Sana lang ni-retain nila yung LSD for the CRDi facelifted models.

hindi sya based sa 4D56. bagong gawang engine ng hyundai. called the "Hyundai A Engine". used by the starex and sorento. makikita nyo sa main website ng hyundai, sa r&d section.

OK naman ang Starex (for a van). It's far from perfect kasi the tranny has some issues and the ride gets more and more bouncy the older it gets. Pero walang major headaches na mahirap ayusin so far within 3-4 years.

matulin ang Starex CRDi kahit AT. unlike most diesel matic na hirap na hirap mag downshift, eto kahit 100kph na ang takbo mo...mararamdaman mo magdownshift from 4th to 3rd pag gusto mo humataw!.

matulin. combined with other Starex's appealing features. its a winner.

In my observation 400 to 500 KM in one full tank po ung kaya nya, syempre it dipends on your driving behavior. We travel to Quezon and we consume 250KM from full tank half lang po ung nabawas.

Nung kinuha po namin ung unit nmin from casa pina-full tank po agad namin (Syempre kc bago po eh) inabot lang sya ng 1,500Php, although meron na sya laman i think 10Liters yun usually pag bagong kuha sa casa. Kaya i think CRDI is very fuel efficient engine and also very torqey, two thumbs-up talaga for me itong bago Starex (CRDI).

got an opportunity to park my Santa Fe side by side with the new Starex GRX CRDi. mag-singhaba lang pala sila. that means manueverable eto kasi tama lang ang haba.

hmm... i adding this as one of my option as alternative car.

Driving behavior is a big factor. As well as the type of trips you take. Long trips, assuming that they are via some free-flowing traffic are less harsh on fuel consumption than short, stop and go trips. I also hope what they say about consumption getting better after the break-in period/10,000 kms is true.

just tested our new Starex CRDi sa NLEX kanina, wow! this baby can go 140kph and still very stable. gusto ko pa sagadin kaya lang baka ma-radar ako. I was racing a Ford E150 and a Toyota Fortuner

ok ang insulation ng cabin. kahit tulog mga kasama ko di man lang nila namalayan nasa 130kph+ average speed ko. too bad i'm carrying a roofrack. i can feel sa loob na eto yun lumalaban sa hangin

baggage roof rack. iba ba yun strip roof rack. wind resistance/noise up at 125kph due to roof rack.

i believe matagal pa nila papalitan ang starex coz very useful sya eh. matipid sa gas, matipid i-maintain, na-mamaximize ng husto ang space (passenger/cargo), and it's got ground clearance similar to SUVs, and easy to manuever in traffic coz it's really not that big. now that the new CRDi can achieve speeds similar to gasoline powered cars, the better value for money.

like the CRV, the nose job of the new Starex looks odd on pics, pero in person, this one looks better than the original talaga. it looks elegant bec. of the large square grille with Logo in front. parang style ng old rolls.

even the turbo concealed na unlike the old style na may hoodscoop pa.

yup, the baggage roof rack will create additional wind resistance. your consumption will be a bit worse due to this as well as additional weight, compared to the same ride without it. but it is great to know that you can have it, still hit 140kph, and can still be able climb Kennon or some other steep incline easily.

Although I agree with you on this, I hope Hyundai changes the Starex, for the better of course, faster than Isuzu does its Crosswind. The latter still sells despite its shortcomings, so it still hasn't been significantly upgraded. I hope Hyundai keeps the improvements coming.

Ok nga to. Medyo sleeper. The design is much cleaner with the hoodscoop concealed.

Oh, there's one thing that I don't like about the new CRDi engine. Acceleration from idle to 2,000 rpm. From 2,000 rpm the CRDi pulls hard and strong, which is why cruising at 140kph and above is a breeze, but below that wala. Isn't low end supposed to be a diesel's advantage? Parang at that low rpm, reluctant pang mag-rev yung engine.

top choice for a family van itong starex.
power and comfort, nandito na lahat.

ang pangit lang dito ay ang stock korean tires (kumho), nagkakaroon ng mga bitak after a year of use.

Yep.

Kaso parang wala pa ding alternative unless Innova can solve its D4D woes -- maybe by next year.

how about maintenance? mabilis ba maghanap ng pyesa sa labas (in case out of warranty na) and reasonable ang price? i assume every 5,000 kms ang PMS o change oil?
