* Eli G, Thanks for the advice. Just an update, dadalhin ko na sana sa casa yung tucson kanina pero ng pag start ko, nawala na yung check engine light. I repeatedly shutdown and started the car to see kung wala na talaga yung check engine light and so far, di na bumalik. I also read the manual on the malfunction indicator and it refers to possible emission control issues. Makes you paranoid as any problem in those areas may be costly. Thanks for the advice though.
*BruJuga, I do suggest that you have the battery checked first if its losing power already before you have it changed, but generally, mukhang ganun talaga lifespan ng battery. Mine gave up without any warning. It was working just fine the other day then it just died. As for the replacement, since motolite lang may delivery nung sunday, I had it replaced with a Motolite Gold 2sn (sm?). It has a 21 month warranty and cost me 5,100.00. They took my old battery and gave a discount of 350 so lumabas mga 4750.
They also gave me two other choices, Enduro (15mos. warranty at 4k++) and Excel (24 mos. warranty at 5500++). I just opted with the mid-level since almost two years na rin naman ang warranty.
I wanted to use the original brand (rocket) though napilitan na ako since sunday nangyari problema. Although I heard that Rocket is way expensive than Motolite so ok na rin. Hope this helps.
Makes me paranoid too, it might stall again and might cause a major damage driving with the indicator still on kaya dinala ko na sa casa.
Some says 8mos to 1.5 yrs ang lifespan ng maintenance free battery at lucky na pag maka 2 years.
Recent problems of tucson gls:
1, brake light switch failed again. can shift from D to R or P, no brake lights almost a year after it was changed.
2, aircon won't cool, an isolated incident though
3, door lock stuck the other day but eventually became ok after restarting the engine.
will go to Hyundai shaw tom and i hope they have an available brake light switch or at least they can make it work while waiting for the part.
Hmm, looks like i myself also is having problems with the battery.
Hindi na siya 1 click start ngyun. It appears mahina na yung charge holding capacity nito.
Mukang yung oem brand na from korea is not tropicalized, like the ones na pwedeng mabili locally, like motolite.
Mine is just 1.5yrs lang.
So question is, would i have to go to the process of going to a casa for a reset after changing batteries?
Starex Gold, wag ka sana sir malagay sa nangyari sakin, before you start comparing driving styles.
No need to reset just follow procedure in changing batteries like take off negative first then positive then go back install positive first then negative last. Had mine changed to motolite gold 1SMF size last Feb. Had the new batt delivered to our house and installed by the motolite person.
That also happens to newly installed brake pads, you need to break it in in the first couple of kilometers. In my experience after installing new orig. Hyundai pads it took almost a week of regular driving to get to go back to it's original braking force.
