    Gandang umaga mga ka-Tucson,

Meron po akong 4 month old na Tucson GLS AT model. As of today, naka 5k checkup na sya and odo reading is around 5500km. Last Saturday my familiy went to Tagatay for an overninght stay. Medyo tanghali na kami umalis at kailangan kong bilisan ng konti since may isa pa kaming familiy na kasama at nauna na doon sa place na pupuntahan namin. Habang binabaybay namin ang Sta Rosa-Tagay Road which is mostly a uphill road, nag umpisa na akong mag overtake kung safe at maluwag. Suddenly, eto na, I overtake once again at medyo hinabaan ko ang distance para makasunod ang ibang vehicle. And after that I went to my proper lane kasi may kasalubong na, but before it happens, a cruising Toyota 1.3 Vios got my attention. Kasi sa sobrang bilis nya hindi ako makakablik agad sa linya ko, at ito na, I had to step up on my gas para umusad pa ng husto. And there it goes, my RPM hit the 4k and then 5k+ mark and a white smoke emmitted out to my Tucson. Grabe, bakit ganon? Kelangan bang mamuti ang usok pag ganon kataas ang RPM? I never experienced this on my previous car especially yung 2000 CR-V ko. It also hit more than 5k RPM but nothing happen. And this is what I noticed since day one of my Tucson. Sobrang bagal ng response pag uphill, ang diin na ng tapak mo sa gas (syempre tataas RPM) but to no avail, hindi agad humahatak. Nakakatakot tuloy um-overtake, parang mag e-engine blow sa taas ng RPM. Any comment on this is very much appreciated mga ka-Tucson. Sensya na ang haba ng kwento ko. God Bless !!!

All gasoline engines nowadays have EGR, it is necessary to use it to pass western emissions standards.

If you can't see it, then the passage is internal or integrated into the manifolds. But it's still there.

A "cloud" of white smoke while overtaking on a new engine isn't likely an issue of coolant or oil... Otherwise your car would be losing oil and coolant at a prodigious rate.

What you described sounds suspiciously like water contamination in the fuel... (which I've experienced, with e same symptoms)... which can affect power and response on a new vehicle.

*dzl727 - kindly check your muffler / exhaust pipe by touching the inner tube with your finger. If it's damp with oil (may langis ng konti) that would most likely mean a blown gasket in your engine. This usually happens with older cars but it doesn't mean it can't happen on new ones (sana naman hindi ito yung case ng tucson mo). If itis, its still under waranty and HARI should cover the expenses.

Of course, verify your findigns sa CASA pa rin.

    Hope this helps.

I highly doubt it's oil. A sudden cloud of white smoke is, 90% of the time, either a lot of water getting through the fuel filter or from the catalytic converter. If it's an oil leak via the gasket, it should happen every time you rev hard under load.

By this time, though, there's no way to tell. You should have checked the fuel system and fuel tank right after it happened.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
