Hi to all...Newbie here in tsikot. And just caught up finished reading this thread. OMG at last nakasabay na sa tamang date!

I need help in choosing an suv for me. It's already down to two, tuscon crdi 4x2 and tribute 2.3. With the Php 20k plus or minus difference in pricing, with the tuscon 4x2 crdi slightly more expensive. What should i choose?

    In my opinion....

Exterior: I have to give it to the tribute 2.3L has chrome door handles, side mirrors, and has side skirts with lights. Kaso i find the tuc crdi 4x2's headlight more attractive.

nterior: I like the aircon controls of the tuc crdi 4x2 more. And the fact that it has the H-matic shift knobs unlike the tribute 2.3 who's shift knkob is at the steering wheel. But, the tribute has a moonroof, and back seat trays, which makes it really cool.

Sound system: tuc crdi 4x2 has 6 speakers with 6-cd/mp3 player unlike the tribute 2.3L's 4 speaker and 6-cd player.

Regarding the seating configuration, the tuc crdi 4x2 rear seats are more alligned to the rear compartment when fully folded unlike the tribute's na tinatanggal pa ang sandalan at hindi folding. Pero, mas mababa ang leg room ng tuc crdi 4x2.

So far, IMHO, it's a tie between the two. they both give or take in some aspects of styling. Pero here is where it becomes tricky deciding between the two. The tuc crdi 4x2 has exceptionally better mileage than the tribute. The tuc crdi 4x2 is doing 10-12 km/L city driving according to the salesperson at hyundai shaw(hope mr totoybato could enlighten me with this. ) compared to the 6-8km/L city driving naman for the tribute 2.3L according to the salesperson at masda pasong tamo. But, in the safety department, the tribute has dual airbags, and ABS with EBD and BA. Tapos mas mura pa yung tribute 2.3L sa tuc crdi 4x2. It's really confusing guys... Help me out here pls. Should i choose better mileage than safety? 3 lang kaming sasakay. Me, my wife and our son. I will be using it 60pct of the time in city driving and 40pct naman for out of town driving.

Hope hindi ako Ot. Thanks in advance.

Pasensya na kung tanong din ang sagot ko.

Wala pa bang ABS ang 4x2CRDi? Yung AWD CRDi lang ba ang may ABS? For safety equipment, I'd take ABS over airbags any day of the week.

Between the two, I'm still biased towards the Tucson CRDi (I don't have one).

And posting a query here at the Tucson thread, expect to get some pretty biased answers. :D

    Hi all!
Me and the wife got the chance to test drive a CRDi 4x2 tucson last thursday from the Hyundai Fort dealership (or tent). The wife stayed at the back while I drove, though it was a very short drive since we have a gig to go to. The interior looks good, for a Hyundai. Certainly way better that my mom's old starex (non-crdi). 2-din radio was a JVC unit (don't know if this is any good durability-wise but sounded ok). Wife found the rear legroom to be more than adequate. And the ride, for her, was also pretty pleasant.

I was mostly concerned with the diesel being sluggish on accelaration and the lack of abs (sir OTEP, there is no abs on the 4x2, and no airbag either), so i tried to do some acceleration and brake tests. Acceleration was better than I expected, even with three people on board. Brakes felt sufficiently solid and stopped the tucson with good authority (though i couldn't really test it that hard).

Overall, the lack of safety equipment makes the crdi tucson 4x2 less of a value when compared to the gas m/t version or the 4x4 crdi. For the price, the gas version's lack of safety equipment is a better trade-off than the price tag of the 4x2 crdi. Best bang for the buck i'd say is the 4x4 - diesel with abs and rear discs (and airbags).

hhmm..still undecided which one. Para ngang overpriced yung 4x2 crdi. kaso when it comes to better mileage, masusulit ko kaya yun? Sayang..kung pasok lang sana sa budget ko yung awd na crdi hindi nako magdadalawang isip kunin yun. Which 1 is more practical kaya? (between the tribute and the 4x4 tucson)

The reason why I posted my query here is because I want to know how tuscon crdi owners will be able to encourage me to buy the product they have. Never had an suv before.

    Hey markstep,

My tucson does slightly better, I make about 7-9 kms/liter in the city. These past few months I've been doing an average of 8.5kms/liter. My colleague also has a 2.0 gasoline tucson which also does the same.

I wish they would offer safety options for the 4x2 variants.

my 2wd crdi gives me about 10km/liter for city driving, aircon always on. Gamit ko pa sa korea yung sa akin, kaya nakuha ko yung package na gusto ko, dual airbags, front and rear disc brakes, power sun roof, aircon with climate control, TCS, factory leather seats, solar glass etc. Kung magbababa pa ito ng presyo, sa palagay ko hindi, lalo nba ngayon na ang lakas ng appreciation ng korean currency vis a vis the US dollar.

I made a deposit for a gas/AT variant unfortunately color is not available but dealer promised to deliver by jan. Hope to hear more testimonials fr. current owners. Aside from the steering wheel noise please share even the smallest problems that you encountered. Hows the service and cost of maintenance? TIA
