hindi na rin kami magpapalit kasi we think that the current 2009 Tucson is the most "affordable" SUV you can buy today. imagine buying a compact SUV at sedan prices! hehe

although the upcoming 2010 Tucson iX is definitely a head turner both inside and out, there is also a significant price increase attached to it.

^^ any newly released cars will definitely be a head turner. just wait the ix to stay in our shores for a year or two then i say to you, it wont catch people's attention anymore just like when it was newly released.

Well, yes it's somewhat a case to case basis too. If it didn't sell much then few are seen in streets. Now, each one of them seen could be a looker since people's eyes are not set on seeing it everyday.

Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new Tucson ix will be officially unveiled on december 7. The compact sports utility vehicle has sweeping coupe-like lines, a premium vehicle feel and comes with features unavailable on its predecessor. With the start of Tucson ix sales in the local market, Hyundai aims to set the trend for the segment and regain sales leadership in the small SUV market.

Its revolutionary features begin with the exterior styling which is based on the bold ix-onic concept shown at Geneva Motor Show in March. The power output, fuel-efficiency, comfort and safety features have been all upgraded. Known by the project name LM, it took 36 months and US$225 million to develop.

It comes with a 2-litre engine: either the all-new diesel R or gasoline Theta-II and is fitted with Hyundai’s all-new six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine meets the Euro-5 emissions standards and achieves 15.4 kilometers per liter fuel economy with maximum power output of 184 horsepower. The gasoline engine has a fuel economy of 11.7 kilometers per liter with a 166 horsepower. The diesel engine is offered in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive configurations, while gasoline engine is available only in front-wheel-drive.

Named after a city in the U.S. state of Arizona, Tucson has been one of the most popular Hyundai models with more than 1 million units sold worldwide since its launch in 2004.

Some of the notable features of Tucson are as follows:
    * Vehicle Dynamic Control: improves the safety of a vehicle's stability by detecting and minimizing skids
    * Downhill Brake Control and Hill-Start Assist Control: DBC allows the vehicle to maintain a safe speed on steep declines without having to use the brake while the hill-start assist helps a driver move up a steep or slippery hill without rolling backwards.
    * Emergency Stop Signal: In the event of a panic stop, this feature automatically triggers the emergency hazard lights whose flashing alerts the driver behind thus reducing the risk of rear-end crashes.
    * Panoramic Sunroof(diesel)
    * Safety Rear-View Mirror: Shifting into reverse gear automatically turns on the rear-view camera which provides a wide-angle view of the rear on a 3.5-inch color LCD built into the rear-view mirror thus reducing the risk of accidents.

The Korean domestic market Tucson ix is built in the Ulsan plant while the European edition (to be badged as the ix35) will be built in Europe with production and sales commencing in Europe early next year. Full details about the locally released powertrains, trim levels and option packages will be announced on december 7th

*i personally saw the tucson ix in the flesh kanina at an undisclosed location in cavite, saw two variants, the diesel and the gas versions, noticeable differences nila are naka-panoramic sunroof ung diesel and it has chrome front grille, 17 inch magwheels while the gas fed versions has 16 inchers and body colored front grilles

sobrang ganda ng stance nila, imho much better looking than its counterparts (outlander, crv, rav4, escape, sportage and even way better than the forrester) aggressive ang mga lines nya, ganda ng shape nya, saktong sakto ung rear spoiler nya, im sure that this new model would be a top seller, toyota and honda watch out....

gas version daw muna ang ilalaunch on december 7, di lang sure kung meron pa mga changes sa specs, at heto pa ang isang matindi jan mga tsikoteers.... srp for the new tucson ix gas matic would be php988,000

if this price is indeed true, then wow!!!
but i think this will change come launching day. remember the Kia Soul? it was rumored that the price for the EX would range from P1.1M to P1.2M but guess what, official price is P1.32M for the EX. although Kia and Hyundai are in different paths here, we can never be sure until the official prices and specs are unveiled to the public.

14 days to go before December 7!!! the wait begins.

hmmm.. sana 50K or lower ang difference ng matic version from the manual gas. If this holds true then 1.038 ang gas matic, pasok pa rin sya sa budget ko. I'm about to buy na kasi the 2009 matic CRDi pero kung totoo nga e dito na ako sa iX maski gas kasi biling-bili na talaga ako ngayong December. hehe!

Thanks for posting this, having read this update just now, medyo nag iba din ihip ng hangin para sa akin. Makatawag nga sa mga dealers bukas na bukas at makapag tanong tanong na nga rin. I wanna be the first one to get it at baka magkaubusan pa. Bagay tuloy ang theme song na "All i want for Christmas is you", lolz.
