    Hi guys,

I'm planning to buy a Hyundai Galloper but I have limited knowledge about this ride. It was my officemate who recommended it to me since he already owns one. But yet, i just cant take his words for it, i need your inputs guys. Please comment on the items below, i listed them according to my priority:

    1. Fuel Consumption. Is it true that it runs 10-12 km/L on city drive?
    2. A/C Performance. How cool is it?
    3. Common problems. What are the thiings I should consider in choosing the right unit (Galloper)
    4. Parts availability
    5. Comfort and Style
    6. Unit price. How much is a Galloper nowadays? both "as is" or reconditioned"?

Thanks guys! I would really appreciate some feedbacks from you. It will definitely help a lot

It is mechanically identical to the GEN I Pajero ('84-'91 in other markets, up to '94 sa 'Pinas).

    1. Depends on engine. The Galloper was available with a normally aspirated (no turbo) licensed 4d56, a turbo 4d56, a turbo-intercooled 4d56, and the 3.0l V6 gasoline engine. There were also units that can be run on LPG (quite rare here).
    2. A/C is hard to say. At the age of these units, most would've been repaired already. So performance would really depend on how the system was maintained. Brand new, the a/c systems were more than enough. Some units were dual a/c already.
    3. Check the body for rust, check the engine for signs of loose compression, etc. These are pretty simple vehicles and are not that hard to work on. No specialized knowledge needed as long as your mechanic is competent.
    4. Parts are very much available. Except probably for trim pieces, badging, body graphics etc. Almost everything else is shared with it's Mitsu ancestor.
    5. It's a Pajero. It's stylish and comfortable enough.
    6. I'm not really sure. But I'd get a Galloper over a Subic Pajero as Gallopers are original LHD.

    Early Galloper:

    Later GAlloper:

Both units are only cosmetically different. But they are essentially the same underneath.

may nakisuyo sa amin dati na nagpabili ng computer box nung nasa korea pa ako, mga 2 years ago. The cost is about $1,200.00, just to give you an idea kung saka sakali.

hmmm. pajero pala talaga yan? dami kong nakikita nyan ang akala ko, its a product of filipino ingenuity parang yung mga lumabas na parejo dati.

ano yan, may tie up ang hyundai and mitsu? and why did they stop production?

Hyundai and Mitsu were technical partners. Hyundai licensed the design from Mitsu. Halos buong line up ng Hyundai that time was Mitsu licensed. Derived from the Galant, Space Gear, Space Wagon, etc.

Recently lang natapos ang production ng Galloper when Hyundai developed their own SUV called the Terracan. Pero nagsabay pa din ang production ng Galloper at Terracan for some time.

Yung mga diesel, walang computer box, AFAIK. 4d56-derived iyon. Yung gasoline kasi 6g72 derived kaya may ECU na.

IMO... get a gen1 Pajero instead... it looks more masculine. The Galloper's grille looks awkward to me.

Majority of Galloper V6 units here in the Metro wear USDM Mitsu Montero grilles (and badging) courtesy of the importer. Early models can exchange trim and body panels with Pajeros without needing modifications.

thanks po sa lahat ng nag-reply, especially kay Sir OTEP

anyone who has any idea kung how much po yung fuel consumption ng diesel variant? i'm really very concerned about it. or is it reasonable to assume na pareho lang sila ng consumption ng Gen1 pajero, mga 7-8 km/L sa city drive?

Lakas talaga lumamon di mo naman pwedeng icompare ang 4d56 sa 6G72.Yong auto trany ko na 4d56 6km/lt lang din city driving sa Manual naman 7km/lt,yon nga lang mas mura ang Diesel compare to gasoline you can save 7.28/lt, around 120 petot every 100km ang ma-save mo. For me ok na yong konting extra cost for more quiet and much more powerful engine.

7km/L was probably the worst we could do on our old Pajero. Otherwise it was running around 9++.

    M/T Gen 1 - 190K (as is)
    M/T Gen 2 - 240K (as is)
