imo, hindi talo sa resale value ang sta fe compared to the fortuner, alam nyo kung bakit ko nasabi iyon? kasi the fortuner actually cost you a lot more on your initial purchase considering it has less features than the sta fe. so technically, the advantage of the fortuner in terms of resale value was actually paid for by the owner as premium during original purchase.
anyway, as my signature shows, my dream SUV is the mazda CX-9 but i'm starting to have second thoughts and am starting to lean towards the 3.3L V6 sta. fe limited.. just imagine, you get the top of the line fully loaded sta. fe at least $4,000 cheaper than the base model CX-9. moreso, i really just can't ignore the very good reviews i see, read & hear wherever i turn..
edit: sayang nga lang at alang crdi dito at iyon sana mas gusto ko, kaya lang mga three (3) long years pa daw before makapasok dito
good day mga igan. newbie lang po. fortuner was also one of our first bets, pero nung nabasa ko yung buong thread nito, it definitely changed everything. balak naming kunin ng asawa ko next year is the 2.7 V6. any posts here about the consumption?
oh gad v6. baka 5km/liter lang yan. less than 8km/liter lang crdi ko, all city driving.
just checked before I parked last night , the gauge meter points to the last 1/4. and I have travelled 450+km only.
got d same consumption at 8km/ltr all city driving...tobleron city (puro humps) kasi lugar namin..plus the traffic jam... but compared to the 2literV6 car i'm previously driving, mas tipid pa rin tlaga sya. still i hav 300km before my first change oil..
honga sir oldblue, baka dahil sa sarap i-drive eh napapadalas diin mo sa gas pedalmeron kasi ako kilala who averages at 20mpg +/- (about 8.5km/ltr) on their 2.7 gas santa fe puro city driving (i.e. 0% free way) at ganun din yung ibang mga nakikita kong post on other forums..
if i were u il get the CRDI.....it's the future. im getting 10-12km/l mixed driving na may kasamang hataw sa highway dahil mabilis.
am getting the same mileage as OLDBLUE...around 8/ltr city driving...
btw, just came back from baguio....ang sarap talaga idrive...hit 160 on nlex..did not even feel it...had to let go of gas na...baka ma -overspeeding na ako!!! ang sarap ng manual mode...specially on the zigzag...no problem on the uphill climb...so far my best drive to baguiio..
had 1 problem though..during my uphill climb...transmission suddenly downshifted to 2nd gear...and was locked there...ie: did not want to down shift or upshift....i even shifted it to manual...but the gear would not change...stayed in 2nd gear...i stopped the car completely and the gear unlocked... dont know what happened...any insights?
btw, i used up only less than 3/4 of my gas during the whole trip (back and forth with pasyal around baguio na rin...)..computed my consumption...did around 10/ ltr...hataw kasi ako nlex....
I think ganyan minsan automatic. it will stay on a certain gear para kayanin nya yun pagakyat. it wll rev up to a certain point(and stay at that ideal gear) where the torque needed will be available for the uphill climb. minsan kase pag magupshift ka, lets say 3rd gear(from 2nd) on a steep slope hindi kakayanin ng makina esp if the torque will only arrive at a high rev(or at a certain rev). lets say youre in 2nd at 2.5k revs uphill, you'd want to upshift coz you feel you need more speed. ichecheck ng cpu yan. pagnagshift ka to 3rd and your rev is at 1.5k at the time you will shift, and your torque is not available at that rev for your uphill climb, the cpu wont allow it. it'll stay at 2nd most likely until that uphill climb is complete or until the slope changes. not sure if I'm wrong, or if I said correctly hehehe
kung biglang downshift naman, from 2nd to 1st, biglang tataas yun rev mo, it might do more harm. so the CPU wont allow it too. I think ok lang yan naexperience mo. the computer just made a good calculation of what is needed.
whats the spec ng torque of the sta fe by the way?
yung ayaw magdownshift di ko alam. it happen to me uphill from talisay 2 weeks ago, pero sa upshift lang ayaw. sabi nung sa hyundai na nasesense ng computer yung tamang torque at rpm kaya ganon.
ilan na kaya sante fe owners in manila/nearby manila area? pede na kayang magtawag ng EB? habang elite pa tayo.
As long as you are not going beyond redline you are safe.
Maybe the computer is just avoiding the bad habit of other transmissions - gear hunting.

I think that's normal especially that it (engine) needs torque for that uphill climb. And as long as it does not go beyond red line, nothing to worry. Have you tried depressing the the gas pedal? Usually it changes gears, while in motion...
rpm was already touching 4k....ayaw pa rin mag shift...dats y i had to stop the car completely first...dats wen it shifted back to 1 and was no longer locked at 2
Diesel or gas? If diesel, you still have around 500rpms to spare. Did you try taking your foot off the throttle to effect an upshift?
If you stop, it will really shift to 1 again as part of the computer program.
